If your car is running lean it will have a greater chance that it will det, but the best way of seeing how it runs is to check the deposites on the backbox, it should be quite sooty if its running rich (how you want it to)

Steve,
The stamp in the book is the reason i keep all my receipts as a fully documented history with official receipts from the dealer says alot more than a stamp in the book!

Have to agree with most that has been said, after about 6 years a lower spec car wont really require FRSH, but it should still have FSH by a garage who can pick up more faults than you can by using a haynes book.
There is actually more to a service than just dropping the oil, replacing the...

Dazz,
the 5 door Imprezas are possably a bit more more of a neutrally balanced car over the saloon (as there is more weight over the rear axle and a slightly different suspension set up) but they still handle very well, if not in some cases better than a saloon version.

Like any warranty a manufacturers one will be on average better than a 3rd party one, the items that wont be covered are wear and tear unless otherwise stated where as a 3rd party warranty will cover certain parts (ie the engine) for say 2k rather than the 4-5k that its worth if it blows up thus...
I think that the only down side to the GTiR is that they are mechanically not the greatest.. and if you purchase a standard one your going to need to throw quite alot of cash at it to get it up to a reasonable standard (14 inch wheels are a bit pathetic on a car with 220-227bhp depending on uk...

It wont be classed as a grey import but it will not have a valid 3 year warranty (although the 1st year should be covered).
As for aftermarket warranties... be warned that certain companies (not going to name them but it starts with one of these letters vwwwwwwx) wont cover everything that...
Tech,
the standard uk classic shaped scoob and wrxs have a very restrictive exhaust, ive proved that a slightly modified car is quite a bit quicker than an unmodified one ;) but scoobs do slow down after 100mph (mine having a full decat and more free flowing exhaust system does not thou ;) )...
