It sounds like the 2.0ltr 16v gte needed a good tune up! These have a very good (part cosworth) engine and are more rapid than you think! They are also light (as cars go) but i would expect him to be the quicker (unless its not been maintained and then it will be slower). Tony

Alot of Scooby owners us Motul as its "supposedly" the best oil (in tests in the USA) but thats americans for you lol! I just use fully synth 15w50 cos its better for the temps my turbo runs (ie it doesnt break down as quickly) but most grades of oil will be ok in your average engine...

There is a nice MY00 turbo engine for sale on scoobynet at the nice price of 895 quid ;) i just dont think it would quite fit into a clio thou :( Tony:D

Joe, should say that its the graph you need to see when the car is on the rollers, its considerably better than the standard car and the fact that the ECU is completely remapped giving overall better fuelling and fuel consumption along with better power delivery from low down in the rev range...

MC, nice to see you can get 185bhp out of a nova ;) but lightened and strengthened your car will have a very good power to weight ratio which is what really counts! Basically for what Jonesy wants to do it isnt worth throwing the money into, the costs would outweigh any gains elsewhere but...

Ben, Out of the factory Renault never made a 1.7ltr turbo, they made 1.4, 1.6, 2ltr and 2.2ltr turbos thou. They would have used the 1.7ltr turbo over a 1.4 ltr in an R5GTT if they had done but there wasnt really enough room in one of those for it lol! The 1.6 turbo is the closest you would...
