Simon, Now what i should point out is that if you are 80 yards from the obsticle then you would be able to stop in a straight line with or without ABS ;) as you left a big enough gap to anticipate something happening. Tony

Simon, thats a bit unrealistic isnt it ;) At 50mph your covering virtually 15yards a second and add that to your reaction time you would hit the obsitcal with or without abs 99% of the time anyway and even if you swerved around it you would probably put the car severely out of shape causing...

Nick i agree on what your trying to say, airbags, seatbelts etc do save lives, ABS does not though and thats statisically proven. Just as many drivers with ABS still have accidents than those without it, thats proven. ABS makes the majority of drivers think that they can get away with more...

Just to add a little to that quote you have there Jilly. I have a mate whos oh, mid to late 30s, he drives a 280ps car with NO ABS and he is a good driver, his last (race car which was a 330bhp westfield BTW) also didnt have ABS. Now this guy has been in motorsport for 20 odd years (use to...

Errrrrm acutually this isnt fully correct. You can still brake in the wet without locking you wheels up and turn the steering wheel, the only reason that abs lets you turn your wheel is because you HAVE locked your wheels up, now thats bad driving and not ABS so we can go back to the point...

Ok, so this is where rob shoots himself in the foot because hes purchased a fwd car and not a rwd one ;) I know quite a few people who take their AWD/4wd cars to track days (and are older than 30!) but what you will normally find is that the older people are not suicidal in their manouvers...

I got toasted by one today (an SMG version) but he did have an advantage of passing me at 90mph and i did try to keep up with him in 5th (and wasnt doing too badly really). Monsterous cars (if he was in top then im very impressed as it did go some!) Tony
