I've got a few servers running it on the DC - no problem.
If SBS can run it on the same box as exchange, ISA, sharepoint, SQL, AD, DC etc etc then I'm sure a DC can run it ;)
I was looking through the GPO of the windows firewall and I may have found out the problem but not tested it yet. The File and printer sharing is set to allow but only on the local subnet so I'm gonna change that and see how we go.
I've got a RRAS server setup for VPN at a customers site. Just run of the mill PPTP one - usually dead easy to setup. However one of the remote workers can't access any files on the server.
I can VPN into the server no problem and access all the files.
He can get the VPN connected, can...
It's useful I suppose if you get just a random Blue screen - at least the server will reboot ok - but if you get a recurring issue like you have and you've not had to turn it off before it does catch you out.
Well done, but maybe you should have done the MCDST if you wanna start at the bottom of the IT ladder?
Working in IT you should know your office products anyway :P
I've just ordered a Dell Latitude E6500 for myself for work. I got it pretty cheap from Dell Outlet store. 250gb HD, 4gig Ram, Vista Business etc for 680quid.
Replacing my current Dell latitude which has been great for the last year of heavy on site and off site work...
as above really.
ISDN2 can only ever be MSN or DDI. Usually MSN is a maximum of 8 so not sure how you got 10 on each ISDN2 circuit.
So you need another ISDN2e for DDI where you can have a maximum of 4 set's of DDI blocks of 10 or single numbers (eg 40DDI's).
Just use the management tool - connect to the SQL instance - find your database then just use the export wizard (right click the database and click export).
I've got an MCSE and I recommended it. Experience is king but learning stuff the right way can save a lot of time in the long run. If you want to get into IT then you will be forever learning and studying new stuff.
Anyone use Online Backup for business backup's?
Any Recommendations?
I pursume you do an initial full backup then differential? I've got a few customers asking about this - but most usually have a lot of data to back up daily. Seems crazy over a DSL line.
I like the Avaya digital handsets I think they look great all most sounds like '24' ring tone on internal calls ;) Although I agree the IP Handsets are UGLY.
