I think the car looks great and all other judgements are reserved until i've driven one. JT has said it handles and brakes (i hope that shouldnt read 'breaks') a s**t load better than the current models. So it may be heavier and be bigger, but it might still be quicker on track
How big is the amp? In my childish days when i was running a 15'' and Rockford amp, when you turned it up it did this. Mainly due to the amount the Amp is pulling. Does it do it when driving?
Could be that you need a new/heavier duty battery to cope with the power required for the amp
Even on track its not that much different. I know from experience at Oulton and an airfield day that both are down to drivers skill. It depends what you want from a car. I'd love a Cup as a second car, but i'd prefered the big car feel in a car thats just as at home on track.
Fuel light came on last night on the way home. Though i'd be ok, checked the miles to go and its already below the point of telling you how far you'd get. Im taking bets on making the optimax garage down the road at lunch.
How fars everyone else squeezed out of their cars after the lights...
Where is the power taken from and where is it earthed? It sounds like the cable is shorting, or the amp is dead as its feeding power through the subs, rather than sound.
As for the install, sell all the 6x9's to Dave L. Chav and buy 2 sets of components if you really have to have speakers in...
Day to day, leave it on. Fast driving when you're aware of the risks, turn it off as it defo cuts in (light doesnt flicker). On track i would start with it off, start as you mean to go on.
This is perfect for small hatch backs. Crisp and clear bass, just enough without rattling other peoples cars.
Plays low fq's well enough and better than some 12's i had in the past.
MacAudio
You dont.
Renault told me that they would perform a high complex procedure and drive the car upto a wall, see where the beam went and tape it accordingly (yours for £37 + vat, sir).
Just go to halfords if the above is to complicated and buy those headlight adapters stickers. lol
Tough call.
Its bound to have been thrashed daily from cold, but looked after and worn bits replaced. If you go in knowing that its had a hard life, you should get it at a knockdown price (is it at a Ren dealer or Autotrader?).
Get it HPI'd as Cupcake says and get it RAC/AA checked as well.
Cup- Slightly quicker with no gadgets (unless you get one with AC/Ltd Ed CC)
Chubby- Slightly slower, with Cruise, ABS, CC, 1/2 Leather, Xenon, Spare.
TBH, Cruise is a waste of time unless you only ever drive it on mways, xenons are quality, 1/2 leather doesnt hold you in as well, ABS is...
And the difference there is that one is an actual car and the other is just a mock up for a motorshow or motorsport.
The 197 looks great and will defo grow on you, shame they have ruined it by stripping it back to a basic car, adding weight and not adding enough power.
Huge price difference? Only going to be about £2k if you add on the options on the 197. Clio or Golf (bearing in mind the residuals and tuning options), no contest really. As I said though, wait until the official UK prices are realease, its irrelevant until then.
Or when a Golf Gti, type r and cupra r wont be that much more coin.
Anyway, it doesnt matter until the 'official' prices are released at the end of the month.
They do at least give you a hefty discount on the RS owners track days. Limited to 45-50 cars, few laps in an RS model and open pitlane for £150. Not free, but its a start
Nice work Andy, i think ive met the guy. He was at the Oulton trackday last year, decent guy.
Go easy with it until you get used to it, you dont want it biting you on these green roads
