I'd say it was the best hot hatch money can buy these days, well in the ~20k bracket anyway. Do some looking at reviews etc and then test drive them all. Mate has a silver VXR, very nice car, but I'm glad I have the Megane, handaling is sooo much better.

Why not consider a Megane R26 if you are considering the VXR? Or even a Golf GTi, Focus ST, Leon Cupra, etc?

IMO a UK one is worth more. I would buy an import one if it had all the UK stuff, but I would want to pay less, it was less new after all.

No I know what you mean, I'm sure you would easily loose count if you tried to count how many times someone has said, should have put the 225 engine in the 197, or should have turbo'd it etc. That's not the point of the 197 though, it suits the car having an N/A imo, would not be as fun...

Being FSH or FRSH wouldn't bother me really. As long as it's been done by a decent garage then you're fine. I'd hold more value if the car was serviced by a Renault Specialist than Renault themselves most of the time.

Indeed. And it's likely to be an after market alarm so best tell the insurance company this. Chances are they know it's a import from the reg anyway.

The 197 is a better car, no doubt about that imo. As for the money, well you can't compare a car that's ~4 years old against a new one, quite simply the new one is worth considerably more! It's up the buyer if it's worth the cash or not, obviously for you it isn't :)

Would have been more interesting to get his view of the R27 imo. That is still the Clio to buy in my eyes.

Can of worms this one mate. Owned a 172 Cup and Prefacelift EP3 and the Civic is quicker top end.

I like it, keep the wheels silver imo, looks clean looking! Needs tyre gel / gloss though :)

Suspension looks stiff, but damn it looks good.

I think the 17s just look too big in the arches, doesn't help that these alloys are particularly cheap / poor looking :(

I make them walk :approve: I'd keep the cage black myself, colour or polished cages do like rather chav most of the time, and it's going to attract the police! Need a PS of the white wheels to have an idea, but I'd probably say leave them as is, you can go too far :)

It will drop more once it's settled, but I'd get off the 17s and go for some decent 16s or 15s will make it look loads better!
