Re: Kieran's Iceberg 172 Project
Love this car, I was looking at this for my girlfriend a few months back but couldnt be bothered to drive 600 miles to wales and back lol
Looks like a nice purchase though and I like what you've done so far
Get it brought along, nice to see some propper attention to detail and its looking like a very good job. I enjoyed doing the arch detail on my trophy a while back but never went near the running gear
I'm all for naming and shaming, I'd certainly want to know of people's bad experiences with places before trusting them with my pride and joy, I've trusted reviews in the past and paid the price when it all went tits up
I've tried a few 'specialists' now with quite big consequences. I think the last stop is Fred, even if it is a 400 mile round trip I'd rather have someone with propper knowledge, not someone who claims to have the knowledge working on my car
Yes ;) lol
I don't like the way the tailpipe from the backbox appears to point down a little, I'm not sure if there is some room for adjustment or not
See
I'm getting used to it now though, looks a lot different to my recessed system that's for sure, looks more chavy with my 4x4 stance lol
Get a look at this, all the mods are practically brand new bar the rear ARB brackets which have suffered a bit from the elements.

It belongs to jeff (J.W)
This was mine on vmaxx
Driveshafts used to rub on the body of the car :) It doesn't look very low here but the front bumper was around 40mm off the floor
I felt jealous of all the trophy owners riding high so thought I'd join in :)
Tbh the reason I went for the Konigsports and got them set-up etc was in the hope I could get somewhere near how the trophy used to drive. Sadly I don't think coilovers are really meant for the road. I'm probably...
Yeah mate, went for 'one of those drives' which sealed the deal and I decided to keep. Shame I'd sort of convinced myself to sell up and move on but its pointless as it's been uber reliable
Just running the cat in ATM fletch. I posted a vid of it in the yoz apr. thread. I should be booking it up to get the subframe dropped and a new 182 manifold put on with de-cat link pipe. That won't be for a few months though
Don't worry I've had 3 sets of coilovers, a trophy on eibachs etc so I know what I want. Stiffer to a point, if it's too stiff you get an unstable ride and unpredictable handling.
Well I started putting it back to standard, sold all the tasty bits (speedlines, fk's, ast's etc) then noticed...
Been playing around with the cup over the last few weeks changing things here and there.
Things that have changed:
Wheels
Suspension 4x4 ftl
Exhaust - yozza ftw?
Standard back bumper back on
Airbox
So here it was looking miserable and dirty
Dirty yoz
So...
What's your advice on LSP gally? I've always just applied some zymol wax and left it at that. I did want to invest in a few of the zaino products to protect the wax a little bit more
Certainly interesting learning more about the clear coats. You can certainly get a slight improvement through the clear coat, but nothing ever enough to bring the basecoat back to life as you say the way the clearcoat is put on means you can't do this.
I found in particular, the door handles...
Tbh I've just fitted a race system to my cup, its a cat-back and is no louder than the system I had on before. I imagine it will sound rather tasty with a de-cat as well :) .
I'm however not quite sold on the look of it yet, quality seems good though

So many trophy's I want another, although I love my cup too much now :(
Video turned out pretty decent mate, I'm no media guru but it seemed decent, would love to hear some fly by's of it maybe next time you're out in the mountains you can get some.
I miss my trophy :( the more I see them, the more I get that gut wrenching feeling of why didn't I take it to a propper specialist.
Good to see you've got one that you're taking care of though, they're a cracking car and really reward you if you learn how to drive them hard
I think it's going to have go be trophy dampers with eibach sportlines and whiteline rear arb. This is the set up I ran on the trophy.
Will have to convert the hubs but not a big deal.
I've been in a car with apex Rob, ride was terrible.
The rollers themselves are good, the people opperating them are f**king useless, As I found out when they failed to strap my rallye down properly and it jumping out the rollers and nearly going through their wall.
I would strongly avoid using them.
As for motorscope, well the rollers there...
