Why would I change them again though when they were done a year ago (12k) and only meant to be changed every 3 year/36k? I'll just get the aux belt kit done again in 2 years and that won't interfere with the cambelt.
Ok so I took it in today. They hadn't added the cost of the dephaser pulley to the parts bill, added an extra 170 to the price. They are doing everything Fred said, including a new aux belt.
So if I just ring back up and check if they are going to put a new aux belt on when they put it back together I should be ok. It had a new aux tensioner about a year ago so that should be fine until the next aux belt change? What's a aux belt cost, about £20?
16th July it's booked in for. I had the aux belt and tensioner done a year ago, I assume they will just put a new aux belt on to go with the cam belt and dephaser. Will check when I take it in.
Fitted them to mine a few months ago, there is more vibration and noise, especially on idle, but for me the benefits outweigh that. To be honest though once you are used to them you won't notice much difference, apart from how tight the drivetrain now feels!
Just booked my car in to Benfield Renault Gateshead for the cam belt and dephaser, works out at £449 and I get a courtesy car for the day, seems a good price, almost too good to be true!
Any reasons I should be concerned?
Around about 5.30 on Tuesday I think, a low 172 in a sort of matt grey colour with a black roof and black alloys. I was in my Iceberg 172 behind you, nice to know me engine is healthy (or both are equally as broke ;)).
Then yesterday, heading westbound on the A1231 a black 182 behind me, again...
Air is getting in to the engine through somewhere other than the throttle body. As ^ said, check the brake vacuum take off, also make sure all the bolts are tightened down properly, did you use a new gasket?
1. A LY 1*2 with grey decals going westbound on the A1231 about 5.30 I think
2. An Arctic 172 in Asda Boldon carpark about 7pm, dark wheels with red callipers and a 3/4 plate
3. A RB 200 in Asda Boldon carpark parked diagonally across two bays, also about 7pm
4. A burnt orange 1*2 driving...
Yes it's a BG, here's a link to it - http://www.ne-motorsalvage.co.uk/pages/page_34.php?value1=RENAULT&value2=%&value3=breakers&value4=MakeModel&value5=20&page_type=&mode=detail&ID=1122
Anybody used to own this? Got some nice parts on it, I took a nearside front calliper (looks brand new) and a set of DS2500's for £25 from it. Noticed it has powerflex wishbone bushes too and braided lines with super blue brake fluid. Bet it was a great car before the accident!
I've got the powerflex dogbone and vibra technics engine mounts, such a difference it's unbelievable, especially if your current mounts are on their last legs.
I've got the powerflex arb bushes in the house to fit next, then thinking about the pure motorsport top mounts and struct brace kit...
Haha great! He was on it all day, saw him just gather it back up after losing the back end going in to Clervaux and also a couple of hundred meter trip down the grass after losing it coming out of the complex heading to Sunny out.
A lovely 61 plate 200 about 9.30 this morning. Came from Washington and followed me on to the A1, turned off at the Metro Centre. I was in my silver 172.
The RAC rally? I'll be going down to Dalby with Phil on the Friday night and following the rally back up the country in the 197, just sleeping in the car on the night.
My center mount snapped after only 4 months. I took it off, shaved all of the rubber from the metal bracket using a stanley knife, and then forced a universal exhaust mount on to the metal bracket and bolted it to the car to wedge it in place. Works great.now and if it ever did snap I can fix it...
