I got an alignment done this morning on a hunter machine and my results are below.
The technician pointed out that my camber was excessive and may result in pulling to the left (it doesn't seem to after a quick drive), the car is a FF 172, Eibach Sportlines, PMS top mounts, all other suspension...
Haha I got my old 306 stuck in that field a good few years ago. Speedo was reading 90, car was static and everyone covered in mud!
I must say Croft is in need of some investment now though.
I rebuilt the rear callipers with the Big Redd Kit and it was fine. However, whatever you do, after taking the handbrake mechanism boot off, do not be tempted to take apart the handbrake mechanism, that was 4 hours of my life I will never get back!
OK so tonight I finally stopped the knocking and I'm over the moon, I can finally feel the benefits of my suspension refresh and it feels great, drives like new again!
It turned out to be a multitude of issues. The car was rattling badly and the outer CV boot had a hole and all the grease had...
It sounds like a problem I've been suffering with for a long time and its all of a sudden got a lot worse meaning I have more chance of pinpointing it. Fairly sure now that its the outer CV. How many miles are on your driveshafts?
It wasn't too bad actually, not something I noticed being a problem on the day anyway. It could definitely benefit from a smaller steering wheel and a LSD though!
Yes the council gave us the long stay car park for the day. Haven't found any videos of myself but here's a video of my friend in his MX5. It was in conjunction with road respect young driver of the year (2 young guys competing against each other) and organised by Whickham and District motor...
Apart from karting I've never done any competitive driving, until now. On Sunday I entered myself and my Clio in to an Autosolo at Heworth Metro station. Having never done an Autosolo before I had no idea how I would do. The day consisted of 2 tests, with 6 runs at each, and the best time from...
A friend thinks it could be a wheel bearing as he had a similar issue. There is no play in the bearing when jacked up but it does hum slightly on the motorway. The car is on Eibach Sportlines and 84k.
I checked the driveshaft today as suggested and there was no in out play at all. I did find a hole in the ball joint boot though so I think the plan of replacing the arms next is the best bet, as I will replace both the ball joints and bushes.
I hope it's not the rack!
I just put the solid top mounts on last night as part of my mission to stop the knocking, but its the same as the standard top mounts were.
I used Lemforder ball joints, do you think it could be those? I'll be getting new ball joints again as they come with the arms from Renault.
I put a...
For the past 2 years my car has had a knock from the front offside when going over bumps and when initially braking or accelerating. So far I have replaced almost everything on the front end except the bottom arms ( did change the ball joints) and track rods ( changed the TRE's though).
I've...
