Sounds exactly like the debate I had with myself before I bought mine. Do it mate, you wont be disappointed. Just be prepared to do a few trackdays before you can get the best out of it. Ive done 6 or 7 now, and Im getting the hang of the thing, but the first few were difficult, particularly in...
Not a chance - that would put it the same price (or more) than a Megane RS. Renault are not competing with the Golf with the Clio - its a completely different market sector. £15k max, probably a little less.
better depends on your preference for how the tyre behaves.. I loved the Contis but a lot of people seem to hate them. Goodyear F1s are better than either of the ones you mention, but a lot more £££££
talk to 53billabong, his looks fantastic..

Bound to mate. Its going to get a lot worse than this too. Sooner or later somebody will actually buy one that we can have a proper look at! Im pinning my hopes on next summers Renaultsport trackdays for a first drive :D
Anyway were there rumours of a tin-top cabriolet a while back?
What happened to my other quote then.....? *goes to find it*
"I had expected to be a lot faster than Lee, but to find
myself obliterating the Trophy so comprehensively left me speechless"
:D
I guess there wasnt room for it ;)
^^ top comment, which bears out the marketing strategy and product positioning once again. Were comparing a 13k supermini to Jap stuff thats massively more expensive here.
For the money the Trophy is pretty good. Sure itll depreciate, but there wont be another Renaultsport Clio for a year or more, so it should at least hold its value for a while.
A VXT would murder it round a track, but like you say, you get to drive it every day and at least you can carry...
If you want all the toys, get a 182 with whatever options you want. But if you want the best drive currently available from a front-wheel-drive car, get a Trophy.
If you dont do trackdays the Trophy probably isnt worth it, but if you do, then get one.

Trackdays are for fun, both cars are fun on a near equal measure IMHO.The thread is pretty pointless, nobody is actually going to race thier standard 182s and vs on a track, thats just stupid. The v is of course quicker in certain situations as...

I think a V6 vs 182 day would be good fun, if we could arrange it somehow.ClarkieV6 - Do you think you could do something ?
Thinking about it, weve already done this at Spa last year.
