Some UK spec Mk1s (upto Oct2000 I think) came with gear change light and a light weight alloy bonnet. The easiest way of telling whether the bonnet is alloy or not is how heavy it is. I believe the gear change light is related to the ecu and therefore no easy activation solution is available.

I have to confess that it was a two man job and did require taking the power steering reservoir off the fire wall. Just trace the bonnett release cable back from the catch at the front of the car to locate the grommett.

If you search this forum there should be quite a few topics on this. But if you can locate the grommet that has the bonnet release cable going through it then that is where i put mine through. Not easy but the easiest I could find.

I disconnected the tweeters when I took them out to replace with some proper ones!!

I had a Megane as a hire car the other day and actually took one out to see if it would fit. It fitted fine but the plastic surround was black so didnt match the rest of the blueish plastic in the car. If I had time I could have swapped the actual handles around but was a bit rushed.

the wires that come out the back of the head unit branch in two somewhere under the dash. So no it doesnt extend on to the door speakers. I just disconnected the tweeters but left the wire in place.

The crossovers are intergral to the tweeters themselves. They are small capacitors on the back of them. They stop the low frequencies from getting to your tweeters.

Getting paint these days is quite hard. I used to buy quite a lot of car cellulose paint for spraying other things (not walls!!) but the government interoduced fancy new health and safety regs and if you werent a qualified spray technician or something stupid like that you could no longer...

My pads were about the same but not as bad. I think the rear pads are thinner hence they will be more worn quicker!! Had this on my last car as well.

Just to put my moneys worth in here! 172 doesny require or get 6,000 mile safety check.
