Popped into my local dealer today to price up a new gearknob for the 172 cup.
We knew it wasnt going to be cheap but Renault wanted:
MK1 172 - £69
MK2 172 - £67
172 Cup - £63
182 - £190 <------wtf!!???
We ended up buying one from a dynamique - £20
How do they justify the cost...
My mother in law has one
She loves it - its a 1.6 16v in silver. It has the silver 16v door trims, walnut trim inside and also had the half leather half alcantara.
She was very disappionted to know that she cannot get another as they have stopped making them now.

The office has been relocated - so they are still available for general enquiries...

I pick up the 182 with cup bits in 2 weeks - so I cant really help that much but as a previous mk1 owner, got a mk2 172 now and we own a 172 cup I hope that I can give you my honest opinion.
I do feel that Renault have learnt from all the cars and I feel it is an improvement -I didnt...
Only paid £30 for the oil change for the 172
with me supplying the oil as Renault parts had a special offer on the 1 litre bottles of elf 5w40 @ @1.99 - which worked out a lot cheaper than the gash stuff they normally use.

In my opinion the best way to prevent scratches/swirl marks is by being careful.
