my speedo has been known to jump about when above 60mph and normally when im driving it pretty hard.
Would be good to know what it is, aslong as its just a sensor i'll live. If its mechanical, i probably wont :(
sorry, i meant o/s driveshaft.
cheers for the info, you've put my mind at rest if it'll just slide off.
As i said, had hubs off completely before, was just concerned about the gearbox side of things.
Next problem will be getting the wheel off :(
the wing mirrors from both the ph1 and ph2 are the same, so the glass will fit.
around £20 according to dialogys for the glass, probably wrong though (had to guess a few things)
right, having to replace my left hand driveshaft (the longer one), on my 1.2 (D7f), and just wondered if it was particularly difficult? had the hub, etc off before, just more worried about how to remove it from the gearbox - and is gearbox oil a problem on this side?
Just making sure i'm...
i thought leaving it idling wasnt a good thing. At idle, the oil pressure is low, thus starving the engine to an extent?
could be wrong, but i wouldnt leave it idling for longer than i had to before driving
hmmm
the one thing i will say, and have said ever since seeing the wiring diagrams going around the internet. My wiring colours went the same as in the guides...
Which i've never understood.
yip, sounds like theres been more damage to the car.
To be honest, i'm surprised the subframe wasnt bent atleast, since it took the shock, lower arm and ARB!
(ps, it aint a mk3, its a mk2 ph2)
rear drums are easy, they just look difficult the first few times you touch them, lol.
set of shoes are cheap (£30 max), new spring kit (£5ish), and im assuming the seal in question was a seal on the cylinder (new cylinders cost me £16.50 each), so chances are the rest is labour.
nightmare...
LSD's are good for track use aswell as 1/4mile, for the simple reason that they keep power going to both wheels. Can be good and bad on the roads, fun through the twisties but you need to adapt your driving style, and hitting bumps has been known to pull cars in towards kerbs etc.
You can...
a worn bearing could damage the hub carrier though, and it happens.
Brand new parts then labour, could add up to that depending on who's doing it.
Personally i'd get a second opinion, cause if its just the bearing needing swapped, its a fairly cheap and easy job.
hmm, didnt actually notice the mention of it being a mk1 in the first post.
either way, i thought valver brakes fitted mk2's, and 172 brakes go on lower spec mk2's, meaning 172 brakes in theory should fit a valver? thought it'd be the same for the RT.
Probably completely wrong, lol
definetly dont need spring compressors on 172/182's
i used them on my 1.2 when taking the springs off the first time. Since then its had shortened shocks and is lowered 60mm, and definetly doesnt need them :D
thinkso, its two bolts that hold the caliper onto the hub carrier - they're the same spacing from clio to clio.
Likewise with the discs.
Probably need the brake lines aswell.
not being cheeky, but nobody will be replying as they already replied to a similar topic last week. Use the search function - its all already been said.
