    Rust!

Could that one have been a bad stone chip? There’s a hole right in the middle.

    Iceberg 172 goes Sprinting

Thanks, appreciate the reply. I’m in Ashford. I just fancied the idea of a sprint at Lydden rather than a track day but I guess it makes sense being licence etc. It was more that I couldn’t commit to lots of sprints all over the country so wondered about entering stuff like this as a once or...

    Iceberg 172 goes Sprinting

Great work. On the Lydden sprint subject... I’d like to do something like this in my 172. Is it an actual series of sprints you have to enter or would I be able to just do the odd sprint day at Lydden?

    Rust!

I’ve no plans to sell it as it was basically given to me a few years ago & I was going to flog it straight away. It took me by surprise how good it was and had it ever since. I’ve known the car years before I owned it, never been modified which has got to be something for one of these! I’ll...

    Rust!

So I picked the wrong side to check? My thinking was N/S being in more road debris and water should be the worse. So it could still be rotten as a pear! My filler cap area does look like you could grow plants in it so will look. I actually went out to throw a load of bilthamber down inside...

    Rust!

I had a look at my car today (53 plate black 172 for rust as I keep reading “it’ll be rusty on the inside” Now bare in mind my car hardly ever gets cleaned BUT the key for me with these is my car has its original factory paintwork (except the front bumper has been touched in years ago) I see a...

    Anti Lock Brakes Sensor?

As above, I’ve changed a few reluctor rings on clios. The rust on the cv joint swells underneath and blows the rusty ring apart.

    Clio Williams 1 1993

What are the fuse boxes like on these? It’s been a while since I had a 16v (20 years!) It’s worth pulling all the relays you can, cleaning all the fuses and relay connectors. A lot of electrical trouble with old cars can be down to corrosion growing on contact points between relays and fuse...

    Is this correct?

ha, you’d probably find the same people were doing the same thing to their cars when they were young. You were lucky on here that someone nice got in first to be fair! :D

    Rare Sight?

I went there years ago (maybe 10yrs or so) when the late JGM mapped my sti. Was on a film studio grounds or something, is it still in same place?

    Rare Sight?

It’s obviously a decent lump as SRR isn’t usually a place for over inflated power figures. But... it’s probably a waste of time comparing the two graphs on different days though isn’t it? Especially with the large temperature differential there. I guess it depends how accurate the DD temp...

CS Gold Oil all over my rear wheel

Looks like it’s been splurted from inside the wheel towards the outside. Sure it’s no a cat with the squits lol. I think a taste test would confirm if it really is bbq sauce as I’m not feeling the colour is correct on the wheel there.

    Rear shocks gone...wet!

Looks like your brakes aren’t working very well looking at your disc.

    Clio 172 track car

I think this is my favourite colour on a 172, love it. Good luck with it.

Starting Issue - Not sure what to try next

Have a look in the fuse box in the front right side of the engine bay. Remove relays and clean up all contacts you can with sand paper. Worth a try as my car wouldn’t start when I first got it, cleaned up the fuse box connections and it’s been perfect for the last couple of years since.

    Clios in Old EVO Magazine

My old V6 owed me about £7k (and it was a really nice one with low mileage). Don’t like to think about that too much.

    Chi's Clio Collection

Yeah, paying for storage is the killer Id imagine. Hopefully he had a claim on their insurance for the roof though? Think I’d still be mad enough to jet wash those seats off and look (prob bleached) The irony is I think the prices maybe on the move on them recently. I’ve noticed a lack of...

    Clio with Rotrex super charger

This is the way I’d go on a clio to be honest. The beauty of the car is it’s weight and handling, sticking a load of extra weight over the front (manifold, turbo, intercooler, pipework) is only going to have a negative effect on handling. And for the record, I’m a big fan of turbo cars. If I...

    What is this?

What is with the wiring comments anyway lol from what I can see it's the stanard loom pulled out of the dash to show two spliced wires ffs? All the 'wiring' that's not oe there are the two wires, which might very well be soldered on under the tape and may or may not even be anything to do with...

    What is this?

Think someone got it right with the sigma. I've got a UK impreza turbo and they have these from standard in the glove box. It's like a pin pad over ride for the alarm/immobiliser. Sometimes the remote doesn't work (these specific sigma's get a lot of tetra interference) and you have to unlock...

Wiring in head unit for OE volume control (I know, I know)

Here's some pics.. This is the wire in question (blue) the phono jack plugs in to HU. As I say, I tried the blue to the blue remote lead on HU. Now I'm looking at the pics I'm wondering if the extra wire that's off the back of the jack plug might go to the other wire looping them up? Depending...

Wiring in head unit for OE volume control (I know, I know)

03 Clio 172, jvc head unit. Bought the interface lead, bought the patch lead. Tried it all out yesterday and nothing! I just want to check (from those in the know) that I've not overlooked something. Lead plugged in to clock display, stereo all plugged in, phono jack plugged in to 'OE remote'...

    More clio turbo's

Are the megane's no good on track? They seem cheap as anything, was considering one myself for a while. Remap to 260/270, seem reliable enough from reading the forums?

    Exhaust knocking

I've just been through this.. First thing I did was bought a dog bone, that helped but still knocking. What I'd recommend is taking off the drivers side engine mount, when you have the mount in your hand you'll see the rubber bumpers which control the forward and back movement. The rear rubber...

    Washer system operation

If that's the case then maybe there's a fault with the switch stalk then! I've just fitted the new pump and it's exactly the same aaarrrggghh. stupid ungreatful car! Annoyed me today.. When accelerating hard in 1st & 2nd (what sounds like) the exhaust is hitting the subframe. After a look...

Washer jets for front screen operate rear screen

Make sure you have the right pump before taking things off, see the links in this post (or have you bought a 2nd hand one?) It's just that price sounds too cheap for the correct pump which is what happened to me. I went to euro car parts and got one for £5, got home and it was the wrong pump...
