Brazo over on Detailing world and owner of 'The Shine Factory' wrote a good guide for rotary polishing which he allowed me to post on my site. It's a great guide on making sure you don't inflict hologramming.

If you can afford, then a pressure washer with a foam attachment will ultimately produce better results. Don't be tempted into buying a cheap pressure washer though as they can be a flase economy and a pain in the ass.
Having siad that I find it a bit of a pain connecting the pressure washer...
You will be able to remove hologram marks by hand with lots of effort or re-doing the rotary polishing.
Holograms occur when you either don't work the polsih long enough or use it at too fast a speed. You want a quality finishing polish such as Menzerna PO106FA and work it at a low to moderate...
Talking about leaving waxes to cure. I've now got a silver car (my excuse for not spotting it) and only today did I realise I've left some Victoria Collectors to cure since last Saturday on the rear wing :o
I know it's a bit late, but if you fancy a drive out this Sunday we are having a meet over at my unit and all are welcome to come along.
Steve (L200) and other top detailers will be on hand to give demos etc. as well. It's only a informal meet but a chance for people to talk wax and polish...
^^^ Stunning ^^^ Pete's 53 is ace.
I'm suprised there hasn't been one mention on Victoria wax on here though either. tut tut. Seriously for under £30 it's a absolute belter. It has the looks of P21s on initial application but I'm certain it looks better the day after.
My car is currently...
Sonus do a good set which works absolute wonders. I'm sure the conditioner was developed for Porsche leatehr. The others that always come highly reccomended are the Gliptone Liquid Leather ones.
This was soft paint, I'm not sure what the newer paints are like.
It was just PO106FA using a SFX-2 with one hit after about 10 passes.

Yes the power should be a nice boost.
The rotation on the head of a Porter Cable can at the moment stop with as little as 12-15lbs down force. The Ultimate won't stop rotating until you apply something like 63-65 LBS of prressure.
Hi Rich, the machine has less vibration as it has better bearings, a larger counter weight system and heavier case. The machines are still in a prototype stage and hopefully I should have some pre-release machines ready for a full trial next week.
I'm seeing if i can get a few for other people...
Sonus are also going to be realeasing a uprated 240v CE marked version of the Porter Cable the 'Ultimate Detailing Machine' which has improved internals for more power and will have less vibration which is a real problem with the current Porter cable.
Not only will it mean there is no longer a...
The SFX are very much underated. The SFX-2 is a fairly mild polish, with SFX-3 really just being a gloss enhancer.
SFX-1 on the scale of abrasion is slightly above Menzerna Intensive Polish and Meguiars #83. It is quite a brittle polish though so breaks down easily which is why it is so...
The best clay is the blue Clay Magic kit. It comes with a 100g bar so enough for 4 cars. Meguiars are reducing the size of the Clay shortly in teh regular Quick Clay Kits I believe down to 50g!
Definately worth doing though and you'll really 'feel' the difference.

Another truely fantastic wax at £29.95 is the Victoria Concours Wax. It really is impressive and constantly impresses me especially at the price.
Here are a couple of shots I took yesterday after PC'ing a couple of panels on the wifes A3 and then applying the Victoria wax.
It very much depands which waxes. Some contain quite high VOC levels and solvents in waxes aren't always that nice. You'll obviously be fine the odd time but prolonged use isn't reccomended for some of the smellier ones.
The Rim wax and Wheel Guards are best as Rich says one stoppers. They are cleaner/polish/protectors so do a bit of everything.
For pure protection I use Klasse AIO/Carlack topped with Poorboys or if I'm feeling fruity Swissvax.
....only problem being there is a worldwide shortage of PO85RD 3.01. I'd still say go with the PO91L which is the regular intensive polish as it works really well and is definately IMHO the next best thing. I used this yesterday and I forgot how good it was.
I'm doing the sampler kits at the...
I actually think the Clay Magic kits are the best, but they are very hard to source at a half decent price. The clay is really as good as it gets. The Meguiars are also great for general purpose work and the the Sonus Green is my choice of more delicate paints or if it is used more often.
I'd suggest a base coat of Carlack/Klasse All In One topped with selant glaze. This give amazing clarity and flake pop to black paint.
You can then top with a wax to give that wetter look if desired. There's a few examples in the gallery page on my website.
Cheers Tim
I personally wouldn't bother.
You'd be amazed at the number of cars I've seen that have been treated with lots of care that still have damage inflicted from waterblades. It only takes one tiny bit of grit to be loosened during the rinsing process or slashed back onto the car to cause some...
For a long lasting deep shine, by hand I would prep with the Carlack Twins/Klasse Twins as above. The All In One will clean the paint up, the sealant seal in the shine and give many months protection.
You can then top that with a nice wax either for looks (Swissol, 5050, etc.)
I'd also like...
