I doubt you'll get rid of it with coilovers. It'll probably more pronounced, actually, as the suspension will be firmer. But in general it's natural for a 1*2 to tripod under hard cornering. It doesn't really happen on my 172 with standard suspension, though -- at least not on winter tyres...
Glad your brakes got better. I'd say it's normal that the ds2500 doesn't have such a great bite initially. But if you're aware of it and warm them up a little each time before you gun it, it's fine. Doesn't really take much, according to my experience.
As for brake fluid: First of all, that...
Front and rear bumper are likely to be a slightly different shade as well then? They're also plastic and I know that my front bumper sure looks different... Could be that it's been replaced, though, as the gaps on my hood are not really the same on each side, either (in fact, they're terrible).
After 15 minutes of track time on a relatively slow and twisty track with quite a bit of braking, you could warm your hands on my front brakes from one foot away. Rear brakes you could touch without hurting yourself. so, I'd say they do precious little. (that was after the cool-down lap, of course).
Personally I wouldn't go for the cheap stuff. You don't know how those discs work and especially drilled discs have a tendency to crack. But the regular brembo hc's are said to be quite good and not very expensive. Lots of people on here drive them and I haven't read anything bad about them.
That is, of course, a possibility. But I could swear that I experienced fading on my old standard brakes. And not experiencing fading on the Ferodos shouldn't be psychological either. However, there's also the brake fluid which could have an influence, I suppose. That was changed along with the...
I doubt it's got anything to do with the Ferodos. I got mine just a week ago, used them moderately over the week and gave them a few firm stops on saturday, drove along the freeway without touching them for 15 min. or so to let them cool and used them today on track. They were good.
Initially...
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but could someone explain the difference between sportlines and prolines? I know the sportlines lower a little more, but what are the differences performance and ride quality wise?
Personally, I don't really like any of the ones you posted. But then again, I would go for anthracite Turinis -- if only I could.
I also don't like black rims on black cars too much, tbh. But it's your car, your taste and your choice, really.
175cm (5'9''?) and absolutely no idea how many "stones"...
Fit in well, but the driving position could be better. If I get as close to the wheel as I like, my legs are bent too much, imho. And the seat could very well go a little lower.
Judging by a picture I've seen in some other thread, the Wilwood kit uses rather small pads (they actually seem to be smaller than standard). So, that would be more force on a smaller area and thus more heat will be generated?
In general, I don't see why a higher number of pots would have any...
Not the greatest picture of the world, quality wise, but I love the atmosphere -- and it is where it belongs.
Gotta admire fatboyslims piccie, though. Definitely my favourite!
Hi there,
I got new brake discs and pads fitted to my 172ff last sunday. Along with that, we changed the brake fluid (went to ATE Super Blue Racing). Now, I know that the 172 needs half a litre of brake fluid, but supposedly, 1 litre minimum is needed for replacement as you loose a lot during...
As I'm in the process of bedding my DS2500's in as well, I'd like to get this cleared up. Would this be okay?
1.) Use the new pads moderately for the first couple of hundred miles.
2.) Once done with the moderate braking, a few firm stops to get some heat in the pads are in order.
3.) When...
Bedding-in instructions on the DS2500's are quite funny, but than again, it says on the box "for race use only".
Just got mine fitted today (along with some ATE PowerDiscs), so I'm glad to have found this thread and seeing that one obviously doesn't have to be religious about it.
Hey ben,
not many answers on the german forum, but the one I got said pretty much what jon_r already pointed out. As long as you're not attracting attention, you're having a good chance of being let onto the Ring. Keeping Noise low will be very important. And it seems I was a little too...
Loving those wheels too! :) One question, though, they look rather shiny on a website where I found them. Yours look more matte. How are they in reality? (I'd prefer a silky matte finish)
Well, 25k seems a little too much, and I am by no means an expert, but to get everything fully TÜV registered, I would guess you'd have to spend probably something in the mid 4 digits. The main problem being the supercharged engine. You'd need an emissions report for it, which would cost you...
Just wanted to point out that the police (and the TÜV-Inspectors) in Germany are generally very picky. And that getting a full independent TÜV test is very, very expensive if you don't at least have an ABE ("general operating license") for all of your parts. However, if the whole project is...
Why is it that people feel the need to somehow convince themselves that the Clio is the be-all and end-all of hothatchism? Personnally, I'm quite convinced that the CTR is a great car (I read plenty good things about it). But so is the 172 and there are several factors wich made me decide to buy...
I wish I could actually get Turinis here in Germany, I think they'd look great on my Iceberg and they're pretty light, afaik. Unfortunately, they don't seem to sell them here (anymore?). :(
Thx for the welcome!
Well, I do plan to go to the ring sooner or later, so I might indeed have a chance to meet some CS members there. Also, I registered at RenaultSport.co.uk as I heard they're doing track days regularly. Unfortunately, most of them are in the UK, but if they should do an...
Hi everybody,
I registered here a few months ago, but didn't post until now.
So, as the title says, I'm from Berlin, Germany, and while there are a few german clio forums, none of them really appealed to me. The main reason being, that german Clio-drivers obviously don't track their car much...
