I've been offered a Genuine Renault set from a 2004 1.5 DCi *very* cheaply - the washer 'fix' - hasn''t solved the strut clunking on my car and I'm thinking I should replace them?
Cheers for any advice!!
:)
...by fitting 182 Seats?
Let me begin by stating that my Cup is primarily my daily drive, that will occasionally be used for track days (2 x p.a. - max.). I have the Elise for that :) hence, buckets were not an option.
I was considering buckets, but my indecision about them was made up by a...
Now I realise there's another thread on TV's on this same page, but let me start by confessing that I have no idea if quality varies in manufacturers model ranges according to size? On the basis that it DOES, I'm looking for a 32-37" (no larger because our chimney breast would be dwarfed by a...
I want to follow Fred's guide/ thread on fitting these to combat my clonking n/s strut.
Looked on Yozzasport and they advertise 'YozzaSport Strut Top Washer' @ £10 This *appears* to be a single, per-washer price (confusing as the images shows TWO washers, yet the text states 'washer'...).
Are...
The MOT testing station I was at mentioned that there is play in my top mounts, but I've not noticed any play/ adverse handling characteristics?!? Also, the mounts look like they'rwe in good shape?
Should I wait for them to start knocking, or is that too late?
Should I just buck up and change...
Had my steering wheel changed and noticed that a bit was missing.
In the below photo, it's the silver bar to the left of the left-hand red circle.
It looks like it forces the airbag out once the airbag has been released.
Thoughts?
My passenger door intermittently WONT lock using the fob.
For reference, there is no 'click' with this door as there is on the boot and driver's door.
However, it WILL lock every time using the internal button.
Any ideas where to even begin the process of elimination?
TIA
EBC Yellow Stuff pads x4 fronts - £65
I've read that these have impressed a few people on here, and that seems a pretty good price when compared to DS2500's @ £95 a side!
Any opinions?
Are there any other Clio Sport-specific breakers?
The only one I know is Clio Spares and I had no joy there. :dapprove:
Need a new front bumper skin for my Cup and it seems that everyone that crashes a Clio RS faceplants it! :)
Of the older guys (30+) on here what do you pay for fully comp and who are you with?

"Some oil smoke from engine at high revs ( and well over the speed limit!)... ...This engine is by no means at the end of it's life."
For an engine with 93k on it, should I expect a BIT of smoke?
At this price, would it be worth spending a bit to sort the issue? Or is it a matter of 'there are...
After selling the Elise, I'm still trying to find a decent 172/ Cup!
Had a look at one today that had:
- Full main dealer service history, yet didn't have a receipt/ proof of a cambelt change. The owner - an honest-looking mature chap, who had owned it since 2005 - didn't also recall the...
...If I should go for:
a) A 65k, W-plate, £2500 Phase 1 that needs a cambelt and wheel refurb (£700-ish) that appears to have been well maintained (FSH, lots of receipts, lots of preventative maintenance).
AND
b) A 84k, 53-plate, £3300 Cup that has a FDSH but has very minor cosmetic damage...
...for an n/s front wing, wing liner and n/s bumper repair (cosmetic scuffing, but down to the plastic with no gouges)...
...in Monaco Blue?
I've been quoted:
- £60 for a new, primed wing
- £35 for a new liner
- £150 to paint the wing
- £250 for the bumper repair
Seems a bit steep to me and...
A Ph1 172 car I'm looking at has an issue with the central locking. It works from the inside of the car but not with the key fob.
To my mind this could just be a dead battery or a dead fob.
Any other possible causes and is a new fob mega-bucks?
I'm trying to cost up a repair.
The previous owner of the Cup I'm looking at has had a 'Pipecraft' SS exhaust fitted. In order to fit this, 'Pipecraft' have cut a section of bumper away.
Now the modification to the bumper has been done well, but I'd rather have a stock-looking car with a...
I'm a cash buyer that has only enquired - not offered - on about 5 cars in the last week.
Not one of the sellers has returned my emails! From either here or PH.
Seriously, WTF?
I'm considering a 172 or a 172 Cup as a fun commuter/ track day car.
I'm also aware that there are some components on which Renault made budgetary compromises (exhaust?).
Now I realise there are the odd 'lemons' from any manufacturer, but are 172's more likely to need serious work when other...
Ph2 - 172 or 172 cup - both from say, 2003.
My thoughts are that the Cup will. No real justifiction for that, other than (maybe) less were made? - Just uninformed speculation...
I realise that the current financial climate isn't ideal for used car sales, but I'm looking at the mid-long term...
