From the photos the clio looked a lot worse, but I will take your word for it. Was concerned me was the clio seat had moved and the roof had creased, both are majorly concerning. But like I said as long as you are okay.
One plus side from this is you have taken another complete dickhead off...
Glad you are both okay. I am amazed that your gf is so, relativity, okay as the passenger area / envelop is pretty distorted and compromised and the seat has moved. Its interesting how much better the pug stood up to the crash than the clio. Amazing what 10 years of car design has done!!
Does anyone know what I should see between the starter and the positive terminal when I turn the key? I have had a multimeter between the two points? Current and voltage?
I haven't tried push starting yet. Although I did the first time it didn't start a few months ago but no luck. I will try it if jumping it doesn't work.
Exactly. Once it is up and running I would like to build an engine for it. It's something I have always wanted to do. Maybe strip down a used one and rebuild something a little different. Not thought about it enough yet.
It's a 10 year old car. It's done 91k. It won't start. I have spent a load on replacement parts for it. Btb exhaust, koni's etc. I am mad but apart from the not starting I have enjoyed fitting everything. I am looking forward to driving it again.
Yep. I don't really know why. I bought another car before I sold it. Then the day came to put it up for sale and I couldn't make myself do it. I love it! Couldn't afford to run 3 cars so I stored it away. It was stored in my garage for most of that. But the last part it was moved to my uncles...
i will give it a go.
i have just remembered that there is a warning light which I forgot to mention, the orange dash light that looks like a heart beat monitor stays on! Not sure what it means?
I have when I did the timing belt. It would start and run fine until about 6 - 8 months ago although the last couple of starts I had to rock it in gear then it would catch and fire. It was a little neglected if I am honest.
No I didn't. Tbh it is not even trying to turn over. ( off to check I...
The Car has been stored for a while. So have decided to put it back on the road, however it will not start.
i have done some other work on the car, cam belt etc... While I did the work I cleaned up all the earths, checked the starter motor and fitted a new TDC sensor. Plus I fitted a new...
If everyone did this in life then where would we be? Still living in caves or using horses for transport? But I do understand what your point is.
I like that they have tried something different and ultimately this solution is very good once it is working. Popping a drive shaft is not...
Don't wast money on Coil-overs. Just get the cheapest used Koni dampers you can find, then get custom springs all round. Surely the cheapest way and with the koni's you shouldn't ruin them with going so low. As for the ride and handling it will be terrible and very unpredictable with it so...
Don't be scared of the mechanical stuff. I'm not saying it is easy but you will learn by doing it. Last week I took the week off work and did the following:
engine out
new clutch
timing belt
dephaser pulley
water pump
(timing was out so had to reset it.)
aux belt (was easy cos its a cup)...
Is the new disc located properly? If the disc is slightly off set then one pad will clash. Take the disc off check it all and refit. Then check that when you put the pads in the are pushed all the way into place and aren't moving as you lower the caliper into place (if they are a little lose...
I think the guy might actually have special needs? The way it is written is really odd. It's terrible English, but not like the usual text speak crap you get. Sort of feel sorry for him.
Get the ball joint swapped so you are running two new ones. Then get a wheel alignment done. If you still have issues then there is something more needed but until then you are running a car that almost certainly has its wheels misaligned. That might be why you are getting scrubbing. Not sure...
Sorry to hijack. I am about to change them on my 172 CUP and want to avoid any issues. Should they be 12mm or 10mm. Both sizes seem to come up for the car on when searching online?
Thanks,
Will
I am surprised even if a really good set of coilover suspension would give better ride than standard, but no doubt it has the potential to be better than a simple set of lowering springs as long as u are not to aggressive with the set up. With the mini's, as you have said, it is about ditching...
Lowering a car is very very unlikely to improve the ride!
Make it look better - almost always.
Just lowering a car does not in anyway ensure a handling improvement. Everyone seems to think that sticking some eibachs on miraculously makes the car handle better. It is most probably worse...
