Maybe, but it depends if you want studs or not. I'd say the only reason it's less hassle is that studs are easier to use when changing a wheel. Otherwise a couple of hours for a pair is hardly a big ask. In particular the positive retention ones are something I love.
What stud kit do you...
Helicoil! We heliocoil all of hour aluminium that gets undone on a regular basis. Works are a treat on things on the threads inside the engine block, diff mounts etc.
Yeah I think this is what I'll do in the end and just plastidip them if I want a change. The car is on sportlines and will be spaced 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear (11.5 and 6.5 taking offset into account). Hopefully it will look a bit aggressive while still being subtle.
Evening gents,
I've got a black 182 (well under the wrap anyway) and some 2118s in need of a refurb. I'm trying to decide what colour to get them done in, part of me fancies a non-standard colour because it's something different. Fluorescent orange or green are tempting, as is powder blue...
I'm learnt set up on rear wheel drive so that will be it then. I would have thought it would add a lot of unpredictability in the transients and you'd be better off trying to destabilise the rear with other methods.
Everything I've ever read/been told recommends against it :S. I've heard of quite a few cases that use dynamic toe out on the rear (just a smidge) but never really seen static toe out.
Noted though!
Right, bang for buck wise it's between the R1R for £67 each and the RE002 for £58 each, think I'm just going to punt it and go R1R, if I hate them I'll move them onto the track car and get some new ones for the road.
Does anyone run R1Rs on the road daily? I do about 6000 miles a year so I was wondering if wear would still be a problem. Do they clear water ok on the motorway compared to PE2s?
Also are 205s worth the extra £30 a tyre over 195s?
Cheers,
Alex
Ahh ok, might try taking it off then in future. Cheers for the replies.
Doh, should have known! In future I'll say piece of powertrain, but it's good to know it will be fine heat wise.
The old man decided brake ducts would be a wonderful idea after we completely cooked a set of brembo max discs and RC5+ pads. Into the office on a Saturday morning and we grabbed some ducting (rated to 150 celsius, hopefully it will do?).
On the near side it's jammed up against a piece of...
Hey guys, I've bought a BG 182 recently, it's currently wrapped white with a carbon wrap on the roof and bonnet so it looks fairly naff, it also has disgusting 17" alloys. I'm planning to dewrap it around east when I get some time off Uni and need a break from revision but in the meantime I...
Does anyone know a set of springs that will give the slightly nose down stance on 182 cup dampers? Don't really fancy going coilovers but love the trophy's standard stance and people's lower Clios that nose down at the front.
Cheers,
Alex
Hey guys,
Long time lurker really, just recently got a FF 182 and the remote locking stopped working today so I've followed a few threads and taken the fob apart to find the micro switch is to blame.
Most people seem to have it fall off and then resolder it back on but mine is in two bits...
