    For all your info: there is a bleed screw on the thermostat housing, when filling up with water, undo until water comes out then refit.

    they use a very fine grade wet n dry paper to take the sheen off the surface, use a compound to restore the shine using an elctric buffing tool.

    sounds like the laquer has sunk. no polish willhelp really mate. I would take it back to get em to either flat it and then buff it (oo er missus) or re- laquer it. Dont waste your time with polish.
