Just come from a 2 now in a 1. apart from the styling (excluding front) being better on 2, i think the 1 is the better all rounder. It just seems to feel better to drive, and the interior although dated is better nailed together.
Plus the Mk1 is a rarer sight and it is the original!!!

Just got my mk1 172 and just wondering if anyone can tell me about the their engine temp dislpay.
I ve noticed that when cruising it sits on the notch below middle. When idling it may creep to middle. Also when driving hard, if operatetes from just below the middle to the middle.

the mk1 i have is more responsive than the 2 i had, but then its got slightly more miles.
Im not just saying it but i think the mk1 interior is better put together, I see Rhys had a bit of trouble bit this is great, think you better just look around for a mintbox - there are some out there...

just done that myself. I came from an 02 mk2 with 16k on the clock, sold it for 9 grand and bought an absolute mintbox 1 owner xreg 2001 with 21k for 7250!! £1750 smokes in the bank!!

should a coolant need topping up - check for a leak mate

without wanting to sound smug, mines done 22K - the first owner put rubber mats over the fronts so syill like new. was gonna take em of, but at 150 smokes a set i will leave em in!! - they are sh*t quality anyway 150 - i cant beleive it!!
