the vectra was always an arse for the aux belt change. it routes around an engine mount, so you had to remove the mount to fit the aux belt. by contrast the cambelt was easy peasy, a £5 draper tool to hold the camshafts in place was the only tool.
not to scare you, but just so you know- if that belt comes off or snaps there's a chance it'll wrap itself around the lower pulley and jump your cambelt = big money. so don't spend too long getting it done :)
as for doing the work, have a look in the guide section i think there's a guide with...
i've recently changed my pas rack for a manual one, and back again. when driving with the manual rack, the car felt more instant and picked up quicker on acceleration due to the less work it has to do. i was going to post another scenario for you. so i will. you're in the gym, you pick up 10kg...
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
to be fair it was me that broke the gearbox- all these problems are on the back of that!
but touch wood, this is currently the only problem the cup has.
that and the fact it needs a decat and matched inlets...
well, i fitted a new renault gasket with the original thermostat in lieu of not receiving the thermostat i ordered, so at least i can re-use the gasket. but it hasn't done it since, only on the drive home on friday
Re: Steering pulling to the right after gearbox replacement but tracking is spot on??
little update. i've since changed to a manual steering rack and it exhibited the same problem. i didn't like it so i put the power steering back in, but this rules out anything to do with the power steering...
Just realised I lied about the thermostat. The one I ordered didn't turn up in time so its got an old one in. Temperature readings from the ecu hover around 83-84 is that right?

I've got an obd reader that measures coolant temperature against other parameters, ill plug it in and go for a drive, will I see fluctuation or generally cold readings?
Thermostat is new ish but not a Renault part

my car feels and sounds like its overfueling. the exhaust has got a bit of a deeper tone to it and you can feel its not really willing to stretch its legs. it still goes quick, but its just not going like it should.
i changed the upstream lambda about a week ago and its been great except for...
update...
i never did get a call back from the garage. apparently the regional manager had been trying to call me, turns out they had a slightly different phone number.
(don't know why he couldn't have asked the garage for the right number...) anyway eventually spoke to them and they've sent me...

but as said in the thread above it may not be as easy as screwing it straight in
my knowledge on camber only extends to what i see the touring cars running on the tv  but i can see that more negative camber gives you more grip round corners :)
different values either side would only affect the angle of the steering wheel, it would still track straight if both sides added up to, for example, +/-1.2mm
standard figures for 172 cup are:
rear toe is -0*32' +/- 10'
front camber -0*32' +/- 30'
rear camber -1*30 +/- 20'
funny this thread should pop up, i've just been looking at renaults technical notes for the cup and it says, with tyres cold, on a motorway, full load, they should be 40psi on the front! that's high, even for full load on a motorway. and 32 on the rear which is more like it. go with what fred...
i've got a hunter alignment on mine booked in for this saturday. settings for the cup should be 0 degrees +/- a 10' (or 0mm +/- 1.2mm). is it worth asking for that extra 10' on the toe in, or leave the hunter to work its magic?
i've got a similar-ish, but strange issue. my eml light is off, but when i plug in my scanner i still get a fault code for the lambda i recently replaced. cleared it twice but it still pops up when i plug it in. but eml stays off.
nothing wrong with my 172 manifold :) i fancy matched inlets and all that jazz, and kind of seems a waste getting all that lovely air into the engine if its hit with a cat on the way out. i dont want the hassle of switching a 172 cat and decat every year, so if i can have the hassle just once by...

most are from china or hong kong. there might be a couple of uk buyers dotted around. the app is called torque and you can get if from the android app market (obv will need an android phone)
codes all cleared and light hasn't come back. average mpg gone up by about 2-3. lovely.
this little obd jobby i got is great. £20 off the bay. it works with my phone and can log everything from a journey. gps position, speed, acceleration, rpm, throttle position, map pressure, coolant...
