    whats wrong with my car

you sometimes get the sulphur smell if you get a modern car boot it infront of you on the motorway....well, I use it as an excuse every time I fart in the car anyway. I had a golf and when the centre section went you could feel it through the gears. I would imagine you can't repair a cat, i...

    Autoglym Aqua Wax

They've finally got it in then  I asked them about 4 months ago about this and they looked at me blankly. It's supposed to come with a couple of microfibres. (it does on most detailing sites) A write up would be good, Rich, when you've had a chance to use it.

For all you FWD handles better than RWD

hmm But it was criticised for handeling worse than the origional 1960's model (rwd). Tbh that car nearly sunk Lotus, over £30 million in losses went down the pan while that was being produced. Hardly a fwd sucess for a company famed for producing sucessful rwd sports cars. I don't think...

For all you FWD handles better than RWD

I owned a few rwd's before moving on to the clio. I like the drive of my clio but in general I prefer rwd and certainly don't think fwd is worth having on anything larger than a clio, the balance feels all wrong. Some people see things differently but deep down you know if Ford ever...

    Sad possibilty

I would keep the one which one have you found to be the most reliable or the one which is cheapest to service and run. It mainly depends on how much cash you need. Personally I would sell both if I needed as much cash as I could get, they are both performance hatches which are worth a...

    Collinite Wax 476

Get some, you wont regret it, especially at this time of year. I used srp then two coats of egp and two coats of 476 on my other car which does about 330 miles a week and lives outside. I did this in October and it still beads on the bonnet after a wash and sheets of the sides. It's well...

    Neighbour peed me off...

I doubt it's jelousy lol. If it was a Koenigsegg CCX / Maclaren F1 or something then maybe... Most people arnt goin to know your car is anything fancy, and even if you told them what it was they would look at you blankly. It's more a case that neighbours can be bellends some times. I have...

    How easy is it...

Pain when that happens. You use mole grips if there is room or in a worst case scenario drill it out, but watch out for the heat generated near plastic etc. The £90 renault charge probably partly takes into account corroded or knackerd screws / bolts and the time it takes to deal with...

    My 172 Cup... FOUND!!!!!

Good news, it's survived. I never knew that the cup was such a desirable car for scumbags to pinch. Did they break into your house specificly for the keys to your car do you think? I hope it's all ok now after it's itallian tune up.

Pic request. Vee rear bumper cut out!

I dont know about you, if I owned a vee I'd be pretty scared of letting anyone take a hack saw to my bumper, just to achieve a 'look'. Isnt it true there is barely any change out of a grand for those rear bumpers?

how to make my clio faster?

Cherry Bomb! My mate had one of those on his golf about 12 years ago, it actually had a big metal arrow on it that you turned to make it loud or too fing loud. It used to vibrate / resonate so much if you sat in the back when it did 4000rpm you felt like you were having a bowl movement. Half...

Clio Mk2 phase 1, want it to go faster...

I've spoken to a couple of companies who produce turbo charger kits for RS Clio's and both told me there would be no plans to create a turbo kit for the 1.2 up to 1.6 clio, mainly I suppose because the most sensible thing to do would be to either drop a 172 engine in or buy a 172. I've only ever...

    Turboing my RSI....

Never had any dealings with this personally but it would seem the volvo engine is the way forward when it comes to renaults. I've seen them in 5's and here in this MK2 PH1. The wiring would put me off though. I imagine you will need a Haynes manual for both cars so you know what wire...

clunking noise when breaking to a stop

Prob ABS kicking in. One possibility; Have a look at the ABS sensor rings at the back of the disk, mounted to the driveshaft, if they are corroded or split they will send a dodgy reading to the ABS sensors plugged in above them and it will think the wheels slipping. Failing that the...

haha "hey christmas tree, over here" TBH it must be the worst thing I have ever seen with 4 wheels.

    Number of previous owners?

Not hugely, so long as it has been well looked after. Also some cars like sports cars or convertibles have a larger number of owners because if they are not hugely practical the novelty wears off quicker. Daft thing is my car has technically two previous owners but it's really only one. On...

    Help with Brakes

Castlated ring at the back of the disk. Here's a photo, I think Renault make them out of tin which they have been soaking in sea water since the war, hence the problem is a common one. The rings can be replaced, failng that it's a new drive shaft. Ring shouldn't move on it own ie without the...

    squeek from front suspension.

It just seemed to do it over any rough surface at pretty much any speed, smooth bits of road were ok because there were no bumps to set if off. I suppose if you get over 40 you'd be hard pressed to hear it over the engine and tyres, though I imagine it's still there, squeeking away.

    squeek from front suspension.

Front Drivers side squeek, not really loud but noticable. When travelling over uneven road surfaces it squeeks quite a bit (lots of little squeeks as you drive over the bumps). Pretty sure it's the suspension. Seems fine on full lock both ways. The shocks dont wallow when I've pushed the car...

    Got a photoshop done

The ronal turbo writing puts me right off. I thought they were stickers at first but I think it's cast into the alloy then painted. I actually like the wheels other than that though.

    Clio 16v's..

I know where you are comming from I noticed this when I wanted a R5 GT Turbo, before I bought the clio. 6 months trying to find an MOT'd AND TAXed standard car. I tried everything, even put wanted adds out and just got scam replies offering to buy the car I didnt have???!!! dumb ass scammers...

    running without wheel liners

Here's a quicky, as i know f.all. Is a clio cup (road going car) suspension set up exactly like the clio cup racers (track going car) ie same shocks, springs, camber etc etc? Effectively making a clio cup a road going replica of a track car? What suspension do the S1600 rally cars use apart...

    AUTOGLYM WOW!!

Damn right. http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=11&products_id=286 They do aqua wax, which is basicly a quick spray detailer. Useful I imagine for shows or a weekly top up. If they do ever create a carnuba wax I hope they get the looks / durability ballance...

    AUTOGLYM WOW!!

The AG range is the best high street product imo. Most people who give the AG range a hard time are either too lazy to get decent results with it or hung up about the fact you can buy it in halfrauds. Much respect to those who have spent a few years (and a few £) finding out what else is out...

    The latest car

You tell them. What does it matter if you lot 'think' they are sheds, MissH loves them and she's happy and not hurting anyone. Infact she is probably more of a car enthusiast than the ones who like b**ching about her imo. Having one fancy car dosent make you an enthusiast, often it just...

    my other project

Great! At least it looks like you know your way around an engine. Maybe you should keep it for a few months and see how you get on before you sell it, I wouldn't strip / track it though. A couple of coats of wax will have it looking great too.
