One of our 4-1 manifolds works very well for this kind of application. Stock 4-1 or 4-2-1 are okay for tuned road engines/track cars making 220bhp'ish but having played with exhaust manifold design a lot on a couple of projects previously there is a fair whack of power to be found there!
We...
I still maintain a good 230bhp endurance spec engine is what you want for this. It'll be bomb proof for circa 8K KMs, have excellent response, a good fuel burn rate and is achievable for sensible costs (built, dyno'd and in the car with loom and ECU for circa £7K). Essentially you're looking at...
The dash is very limitied, it's a crippled MM DDU unit so doesn't have 90% of the functionality of the retail version. It's also TFT so you can't see it in direct sunlight. Much better option is the GEMS OLED units which are fantastic and we have used them in an OEM and two motorsport projects...
We have the R-Sport switch panels in stock as we've swapped so many out for membrane panels now.
If you buy an X85 CC car you still need to find 15K - 20K to make it an endurance car so its not as cost effective as it first seems. There's an interview between VBH and myself floating about...
Re: Update
Have you worked out how many spare bits you can e-bay yet? ;)
With the Clio ABS no not really - whilst the valve block is open it'll do something but once it's in anti-lock then all bets are off as it'll apply/release whatever wheel it feels needs it the most. It might work to make...
Bottom end geo etc. is pretty good so just requires bits light enough and stiff enough to do the revs. The cylinder head, valve gear, induction and exhaust manifold is where the big power comes from. The valve gear is what adds the largest amount of cost as the stock bits aren't any good for...
We are indeed and Nicks Clio is a peach! Really nice bit of kit and very quick.
S2000 relates to the Super 2000 rules specified by (amongst a few other things) BTCC, WTCC and quite a bit of Euro Rally. It's a set of rules that dictate certain dimensions and materials which can be used in the...
For the same reason proper Hondas had engines that ran backwards. The driver is situated on the gearbox side (i.e. lighter side) which helps balance the weight of the engine and as such gives you corner weights closer to ideal.......... in the case of the CC's there's also the fairly large...
I know Englebert loves a bit of workshop bling so that was mostly for him!
It's an old BRM F1 on the chassis dyno 1.5L V8, 11K RPM rev limit.
Track-Group is coming on nicely though.
We do everything from engine design and development for motorsport and low volume OEM to an A service on an Elise! Our primary focus is motorsport development specificaly whole car build and support as we have the ability to undertake 85% of the design, development and build process in house as...
If you are going to build a proper endurance racer then a Clio-Cup car doesn't really help that much. Okay you don't have to dip the shell but being a Cup car it will have damage already and probably require a new one regardless. The last Mk2 we did was an ex CC car and realisticaly all the...
Hello Iceman,
You absolutely need to talk to us about this project. We have taken class wins with Renault Sport projects in both Britcar 24hr (2008) and Dubai 24hr (2009), designed and developed a number of 6/12/24hr and 1000KM endurance race cars and carry stock and spares of most bits that...
Happy to help! Your 197 really is a proper strong one! Even as a completeley standard car it was over 190bhp IIRC but with the matched inlets etc. it's come up a treat!
I've just had a look through our records and there's only been one X85 cup racer that's made more than that LOL
Not really, the added extraction of heat by having the bonnet open is offset by the fact the car isn't moving through the air at speed and as such the bay has no extraction effect as it does when the car is moving at speed. Let me put it this way how do you open the bonnet on an engine dyno? ;)...
Just a quick note to say a big thank you to everyone who turned out today. It's always a pleasure to host a CS day and this one was no exception, especially with the variety of Clios we had!!!
Some great results and not too many poorly ones.
A massive thanks must go to Tony and Jay for...

There is no such thing as a safe base map and anything that goes on it won't be validated. The best that we or anyone else can do without having the car/engine in the chassis/engine cell is going to be a guess. Does he have a wideband on the car that can be used to implement a closed loop fuel...
Chop it out. If you really want to bother fusing it stick a 300AMP or similar mega fuse in line. It won't blow for anything but a dead short to earth but that's all the stock fuse protects against anyway.
Our work is complete as of earlier today. I'll let Barron give the details but I'm impressed. There's a few bits of further development we'd like to be involved with at a later date but this is one seriously quick and sorted Clio!! Specific output is one of the highest I've seen from a 4R!
Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner
How are you sure that the engine was under load? This plot shows an engine on the overrun then the throttle being reapplied to WOT. If the car was held in steady state under WOT at circa 2K RPM before measurements were taken the curves would be much flatter...
We didn't find any need to go for longer trumpets than we could package in, yes more torque would be available with longer inlet tracts but these work well and support power outputs upto 245bhp without trouble. Gains on the 830 engine will naturaly be lower than those on the 730 as it has a much...
Pres - we don't offer mechanical services such as servicing, exhaust fit etc. etc. but we're happy to take on projects such as this X85 and fit our ITB kits etc. where the work goes hand in hand with our electronics work. Both Greg and I have worked as race engineers so twirling spanners to fit...
Glad you like it guys. To add one more thing from the point this car came into us to the point it was on circuit swapping paint (without having a single problem over the whole race weekend) was 10 days. That includes designing and producing the looms, doing the CAN data export to run the PDM...
We did a very quick write up in our section on this but here's a more detailed one with lots more photos etc.
Nick Jones Racing comisioned us to upgrade their X85 Clio Cup race car for competitive use in the WSSC Championship, as far as we are aware this is the first X85 in the UK to upgraded...
