Put my last lot of lacquer on my door handles this morning and the paint match seems really good thanks mate. So whilst they're drying I'm prep'ing my side bump strips. Did you get your paint ordered ok?

Could anybody tell me how to go abouts changing my exterior door handles of my Mk2 Ph2 please? Am just finishing off colourcoding a spare set and will be transfering them onto the car in the next couple of days. After searching the forums it seems as though this can be a pretty tricky job...

If you look inside the drivers door on the VIN plate sticker, I think its the third number down on the left hand side. Should read something like NV followed by three numbers, eg my paint code was NV603.

Think if you open the door, push the rear strip towards the front of the car, and the front strip towards the rear, they move a couple of inches and then can be pulled away from the car. Not sure how easy it is though as I'll be doing mine in a couple of days

^ So should I use 120, 240, 600, 800 grit wet and dry paper to get the plastic as smooth as possible? Then inbetween coats of primer use maybe 1200 grit wet and dry to smooth it even further? And will I need to sand it inbetween coats of paint/ laquer at all? Cheers, Adam

Am going to have a bash at spraying my door handles on my Mk2 Ph2 today, and was just wondering if anybody had done this before and got any advice on how to do them? Can see it being a bit tricky reaching all of the bits inside the door handle. Did you sort of prop 'open' the door handle and...

Think it was NV603 taylor Edit: you might want to double check that though, don't want you ordering the wrong one through me being wrong!

Taylor, I just ordered some for my hologram grey clio today from www.auto-paint.co.uk. Think it was £6.95 for a 400ml can, which I thought was pretty good.

Got the -40mm springs quite a while ago at a bargain price so wasn't going to say no. Long-term its all about coilovers, but they will come when i can afford them. Most problems im haveing with the wheels is decideing whether to go for 16's or 17's. Seen a few nice sets around in the for sale...

Some feedback on how you get on with the process, especially front and rear bumper inserts on mk 2's would be good as well as I haven't got mine done yet. Will be doing my door handles and side bump strips soon, but not sure whether to give the other bits a go as well or get them done...

Had heard that Halfords didn't give the best colour match, and was going to ask for suggestions about where to get paint from, so thanks for the tip Middo Are they those rattle-cans from this website, like in Halfords?
