Chris, do you have any issues with the harness not being ECE approved? Im going to a bucket in the next few weeks and im after a proper 4 point one, but dont want any hassle with the law/MOT. The only one i can find that fits the bill is a Schroth one that Lotus use in the Exige etc, but its...
I was speaking to a guy from AP a few weeks ago and he basically said that they only run the dust/dirt seals as a precaution on the road calipers and that most of the race calipers only loose the seals becasue of a risk of them melting and causing other issues during a race/rally. He said that...
I just weighted the original stuff, calipers discs and pads (no mounting hardware, becasue tjis is the same) and the weight was around 26kg (rough average of 5 weight ins).
Get them on then, you won't regret it!!!!
I agree, i have heard the same things from lots of sources. The guy does own probably the nicest E30 M3 you will ever see though.
Do you still want a run in mine? How long is it going to be before you get the brakes?
I looked at the AP kit, and you are looking at around £1500+vat, and what you get is essentially the same. The only major difference is the discs are 28mm wide instead of 24mm. The calipers are the ones that aren't dust sealed (same as compbrake) and you don't get hoses or pads!!!!
I have a standard set that i have just sold so i will weight them before i send them (disc's, pads and calipers). I would imagine the weight saving is around 10kg, they are loads lighter!!!!!
I used 3.3ohms, thats what i was advised. When you put them in fold the wire back and twist it back around itself, gives it a better 'contact' in the plug. I didn't do that initially and the light came on, went back and refitted it and its now off.
Just the same really, couldn't say there is more or less.
I have DS2500 pads in, which are amazing in these brakes. I hated them in standard calipers.
Pretty good, i would say level pegging with warmish standard setup with DS2500. Then once the pads are warm they are amazing.
About the...
I had the same setup, and they were excellant to start with. But the more i got used to the performance and started 'pushing' them, the more flaws were shown up.
4 pots are 1000 times better, worth it just for the pedal feel imo.
