I'm now 2 months into my 6 month trip, so thought I'd share my photostream. Nothing has been edited in any way, so there's lots of chaff, but some wheat in between.
Anyway, if anybody has any questions over any of them (I haven't done any description), feel free to ask away.
Camera is a...
Copytrans Manager, it's free, lightweight (I use it on my netbook) and works flawlessly. You need to have iTunes installed whilst you install it, though you can uninstall it after - needs drivers.
Munson, nobody cares. Graphics is just part of the puzzle and I thin most on here would equate simplicity, no drivers/hardware worries, no tweaks required, and usually no install as being more than a match for the odd jagged blade of grass.
Playing a £250 console on a 50" plasma with 5.1...
Well considered the Samsung WB550, the Sony DSC-H20, the Canon Ixus IS200 and the Lumix TZ7.
TZ7 won, arriving tomorrow from Camerabox, £317 with Samsonite case, spare (official) battery, 8GB SDHC HS, Gorillapod.
Look forward to shooting some HD video, and shall post up a review in a day or...
Right, had a quick play today with a TZ7.
Good:
Zoom.
Big screen.
Video/Pics quality.
Quickish startup.
Zoom during video.
Face detection seemed good.
Bad:
Proprietary battery, £50. Allegedly poor battery.
The stupidly flimsy mode select wheel.
Mode selector, again.
Button placement...
Apparently AT&T (Nazi's) changed their terms with Apple in the last couple of weeks to allow the streaming of media over their network.
I'd eat my own testicle if 3G was enabled when it's Apestored. I imagine they'd also want some iPlayeresque IP resolution in their to prevent people...
Nah, going proper light mate. Just haven't got the room/inclination to carry it around for 6 months. If I need one I'll buy one out there, but P&S will be first choice.
Doing 3 months in South America, 2 weeks in NZ, 1 month in Oz, 2 months doing S.E Asia... can't forking wait, shall pop some piccies/blog on here.
Will check the Panny out, gonna try and haggle a decent price on Tottenham Court road next week.
Any further suggestions?
Right starting my 6 month trip in little over a week, so I need to buy some new kit to document it all. I have a DSLR, but am NOT taking it, too big, too heavy, and shouts "rob me!".
Questions:
- I'm looking for a good compact P&S with a decent optical zoom (10x ish), and that takes decent...
SE phones in my experience have been a LOT less problematic than the Nokia's I've owned.
Thought it may be of interest to someone anyway, I'd like to try it with PlayTV.

Wasn't sure whether to post this in Phones or Gaming chat, but a few die hards may be interested in the PS3 Remote Play/Play TV functionality of this.
Gotta say, I'm hooked.
I started out with the Co-op Objective mode, aside from the fact it appears there's only one 'level' to play, it's really quite good.
Then moved on to the DM modes, really rinsed it last night, and despite some initial problems actually killing anyone I really enjoyed...
^No it doesn't.
It has in the past, but Apple won a dispute last week. The last 2 updates of WebOS haven't featured iTunes sync.
Pretty certain Apple will throw every resource they can at stopping them, it's their crown jewel.
I'm not sure how quick the Hero is browsing wise compared to the 3G/S. I'm sure a quick Google/Youtube should render the results you're looking for.
The 3G was a massive improvement over the 2G, where as the GS was a bit of a disappointment tbh. I'd do some research before shelling out, if...
Depends on your usage.
It's important to understand that while it's touted at being significantly quicker, the original 3G wasn't exactly slow to begin with, 40% of 1 second, isn't a vast amount of time but makes for great marketing figures.
The one area that it does excel over the 3G is the...
Sony told you to FO?
Buy a new lens if it won't clean, and install it yourself (or buy a new console):

Or check eBay.
Not...
Wrong.
You CAN Jailbreak, you just can't (currently) unlock it due to the baseband upgrade, which plugs the vuln the Pwners have been using to insert their code.
Give it time, all will be well.
Re: iPhone "must have" apps?
Nice work, took them fking long enough!
Edit
----
Seems to work OK, well... as good as Spot was working. The introduction of Playlists seems good, it pulls the playlists you have setup on your account already, and you can edit/add to those playlists. You can't seem...
No problemo, if you want a proper (and very cheap) archiving solution, check out Mimecast. We implemented it recently, project went like a dream, and basically just amounted to us having to change some MX records, then handled the rest.
Very very impressive though, can search my archive (held...
It's a basic browser, offers nothing on the scale of Firefox or Opera, and it's a royal PITA in a corperate environment due to it's retarded habit of installing itself within User Profiles instead of Program Files, like every other program on Earth. The only way around it, after much research...
