Low 30s when ragging it?
Low 30s is a good figure for me for round town driving if im driving economically while I could get 15-20 mpg when driving enthusiastically, It went down to 12 mpg once for a couple of minutes.
I think people just overvalue cliosports a little bit. My 172 had 32k on the clock and was 3700, belts done and FSH, thats about the average price i'd say.
How about one of the VAG TDI engines, can come up to 150 BHP variants which will map to around 200 BHP and still achieve 40+ mpg.
You can get a nice seat leon cupra FR 150 BHP diesel for the budget, decent cars.
Gunna fix the sump and then see if anything on the engine is knocking now, deciding what to do with the car after then. May still end up being sold as a salvage car though. Shame to see this happening to this car - was in absolutely mint condition, 3k miles only 2 owners from new (both ex police).
If the car was undamaged i'd expect around 3800 for it, 37k miles with FSH and belts done, very good condition apart from the obvious.
I have no idea what its worth now but I suppose a mechanically minded person could make a bit of money on it.
Theres barely even any damage to it but being fussy id want the bodywork perfect again.
I wouldn't go through insurance and im already losing 2k, another 3k on a turbo isnt really viable :dapprove:
Its about 600-700 in parts probably the cheapest including labour would be just over 1000? Either way I need to know whats best to do with the car to make the most money, is there a market for lightly damaged cars?
Not looking to split it yet and its only a 172.

Looks like my clio is written off from a 30 mph crash :dapprove: gutted doesn't cover it.
Just wondering what my best options fincancially are really, splitting it or trying to sell for someone who will repair it themselves?
It mainly needs a new wing, bumper, seat / airbag, 2 new wheels and...
No.. 3700 is roughly what i'd be happy to sell the car for, so it's what I would accept if it was written off. Unlike others, I wouldn't google a 'retail figure' which is a couple thousand higher and expect that just because some generic car website told me so.
It's a good price tbh, my 172 with 32k on the clock IMO is only worth what I paid for it - 3700, in near mint condition. A big number of 172 and 182s seem to be very overpriced.
A) The 1.2 driver is someone with driving skill equal to the stig, as well as the guy in the 172 only owning the car for 1 hour prior to the video.
B) It's just a video made for people like you so they think a 1.2 isn't that far off a 172?
If you think a 1.2 is anything near a 172/ 182 then...
Must be a faulty sensor or electrics, the oil is full and theres no signs of the engine lacking oil, sounds and drives completely normal and has done since the light first came on a while ago, although it was intermittent then.
Yeh but i've checked it in a lot of different flat places, it always comes back completely up to the max marker on the dipstick.
I'll have to look into finding someone as im not too mechanically minded.
Thanks
I thought of this but it always seems to happen when i'm moving so the oil shouldnt be heavily on one side, although my drive is on quite a steep hill downwards.
Are all PH2s meant to have cruise control / traction control etc? my 51 plate 172 doesn't have either, it seems to have the same spec as the ph1 172 unless im missing something.
For the last couple of days my 'stop' and what looks to be the oil light have been coming on and off regularly. I'm guessing its just a loose connection somewhere? since the engine oil is actually full and was only topped up a week ago.
Hmm, maybe it's just my driving style then.
My 'new' continental sports have covered about 3000 miles and appear to be more than half worn, having a car that handles nicely is a bit expensive sometimes.
I'd be surprised if it didnt. When I got my clio it had new discs, pads and fluid and was impressed by the brakes - coming from a car with an expensive 4 pot brake conversion.
Hmm, not sure if the 182 brakes are the same as the 172 but my brakes really do perform well, havn't got them to fade noticably ever and they stop the car very fast when needed. Have you checked your discs / pads are ok?
How does lowering the car affect the wear on the tyres? heard various things like not getting the camber setup properly after its been lowered will cause the tyres to wear down much faster?
Not really sure what is true and what isn't.
