i think the tappets are hydraulic ones mate, they work with the oil, have a search on here someone did have a tappet problem but you have to remove the cams etc to change them so its a pretty big job !! also some people may say diffuser pulley as well, so whilst you have the belt and cams off...
it sounds as if he's askin what " after market hand held tester " is best to use ?? we all no the reno clip is the only one to every thing, but if its just erasin faults an reading live data etc some of the testers on the market now do it.

i read that link edde but was confused as i don't really say seat air bags, it just refers to the wires running under the seats !!

you need a 3.8ths to do the tensioner on the aux belt mate. its a bit of a tw*t i found the best way is with the drivers h,lamp out then wobble end 3.8ths small extension,
done my belts this morning 182 with aircon did both belt kits inc all tensioners etc it took me 5 hrs on the floor in my garage, as said a bit tricky getting your hands into places etc but easy job to do, you just need cam lockin tools and crank lock tool,

a aux belt, fan belt, serpentine belt are usually all the same thing nowadays on cars the fan belt used to run a fan as you could guess ! aux belt came into play as they run the alternator, aircon compressor, water pump etc then it got re-named serpentine belt as it is pretty long on some cars...
broken in what way ? if it has internally exploded i would change the reciver/drier and the thermal expansion valve then fully flush the system out, if the magnetic switch ( to turn it on ) has failed so you have just replaced the full compresser it should be ok with a full system re-charge

the tech's have to be over cautioues as the customers will try to get it all for free if they said 60% left then they failed in 6 months, the oil is recommended by renault them selves not the dealers so they buy bulk oil. imagine if you looked at your bill and they had charged you 50.00 for oil...
