I retained the grommets on my install as they actually locate the hardware properly. My seat sits more than low enough now so the couple of mm the grommets made was negligible.

Quiet most of the time with no drone and enough sporty notes when you’re on it. For a daily driver, it’s pretty much perfect.

Haven’t had any time on the car lately due to other commitments but have at least started the strip down and clean up of the roll centre hubs. I’ve all new bearings and rose joints to fit when they’re reassembled. The plan is to get them fully stripped, blasted and plated before fitting.

Amazing you mention Road Rat, i was just putting their subscription in a shopping cart. I've seen it advertised but not yet signed up and was wondering if it was worth it. the first 4 issues i can buy as a back date for £50 plus £40 for a new subscription, so that's £90 on print i haven't yet...

Love reading things in print, i find its a much nicer experience than that of reading a screen.

You’ll probably find that if you’re using a wheel cleaning product such as billberry or similar, that will be stripping the protection from the ends of the studs. So they may need a little spray after every wheel wash.

ACF50 and an old small detailing brush dude. If you’ve not used it before, it’s like a medium viscosity purple oil. I find it easiest to spray a little on a brush and brush it on. gives you more control with it. Id be tempted to take the A1T items once off to have them zinc coated or black...

Just read this thread from start to finish. I remember taking my 8k mile old 182 out to the Ring for the first time, a place where it would spend a good deal of its earlier life. Loving your attention to detail and build ethic on this, its really nice to see with some carefully chosen mods...

Buy the best condition/history car you can irrespective of mileage, drive it and enjoy it. Forget asking about mods until you've actually driven the thing and decided what "you" feel needs improving. For the most part it will be refreshing bushes, fluids, tyres and brakes. Only you will know...

Lol, I’m sure you guys all know, but to those who don’t. Grease on the valve collet grooves should stick the collets in and hold them firmly in place when releasing tension on the springs compressor. (prototype engine build engineer for 15 years) 🙂 Nice lap job fella 🙂👌🏼
