the trouble with this mod is that unless you have your caf as straight as possible (the opening facing front & minimal or slight bend in the ducting) you wont see the full benefit, best off using the foglight area.
70mm ducting is just right, got mine from Yozzasport (quality strong stuff), comes in 1m length, which is ideal if you use the foglight (take it out & mesh the opening, or totally remove foglight surround & foglight & use a brake duct). as Ant says tho if you use the grill you will need a longer...
there some real idiots on this forum, i see it on many threads, had people barging in on mine the other day, Downs523 has asked a question, if you havnt had any of the GDI tuning packages, its simple...dont post.
cost depends on what you have already, if you have a 172 decat, then you need a link pipe + 182 cat for cutting down (for mot time), 182 manifold costs £100-350 (depending if you get lucky), manifold fitting + modifications £2-300 + 'maybe' a remap, min £500ish, max £700ish or you could have a...
clidge, if you plan to run a proper caf by removing the foglight you have to take the acoustic out, as it is in the way. if you are not doing this then leave it alone imo
fitted the brake duct today for the caf, its not pretty but it functions very well. the fixings are temporary (will be rivets), the filter still has to be moved (waiting on a 45 bend) & the caf cut down. i will be filling any gaps around the duct & it will be resprayed. 'pick up' is much...
lol at Gary the scarlet pimpernel, you seek him here...thought you had taken your rs &..., Chris, i guess im like most on here, im only able to do my tuning in small amounts at the moment (£!), i have been offered the cable at a very reasonable price. i want it because i feel it is holding back...
Laingo, as i said Nick isnt ready yet, it all works okay but he has one thing to sort out before he can offer a package. group n is off as i already have smt6.
looking forward to cable at some point, as im happy with the power mine has (for now), but unless im accelerating up throught the gears, it seems im sometimes waiting forever for 4.2k revs, then i get it all. brake ducts arrive tmo, so a proper caf may help response.
there plenty of commas, question marks & full stops for you to take a breath, its not an english expo. if you dont want to try & answer the question then dont. some ppl bore the sh*t out of me with their bullsh*t replys.
looking at the one of the bbt packages, they say.. 'we are able to modify the angle of which the throttle opens in relation to how far the pedal is pushed ie: we can make the throttle body open fully with only a slight touch of the pedal if required. you cant do that with any cable!' so for...
as for safe, i think its as safe in the boot as it was in the engine bay, its fixed solid. of course it would prob be better behind the seat but not good for my passengers, i guess im not that extreme, i need compromise. as already said i will be reducing its size at some point as it still takes...
thanks, ya at first i thought it would be a right pain b4 the quotes (they did include battery box & parts) then i thought about it & it wasnt that bad, got my bat box on evilbay & sprayed it up, electrical suppliers for the circuit box & mounting strap from camberly auto factors & i already had...
tools: all the usual spanners & ratchets, torx heads, power crimper, drill, snips etc, the eclair wrapper i found scrunched up in the engine bay :rasp:
