Is it problems with reliability that are the issue, or is it people's expectations? I think too many people choose to spend x thousand pounds modifying a 10 year old car to use for 10k hard miles a year and are expecting to have exactly the same running/maintenance costs. You surely have to...

Winter sucks. I've driven less than 100 miles in the last few months and I hate leaving the car for so long but I have no motivation to drive it in these cold, dark and wet conditions when I don't have to.
Another reason I've been avoiding driving is because since Wales...
What are your requirements? Price / noise / wet grip / dry grip / grip in cold conditions / longevity / feel / etc.
You can't have everything, tyres are a compromise so name your most important two attributes.
Bump...
Anyone else listened to Serial? American fact-based documentary-style podcast about a potential miscarriage of justice in a first degree murder case. Only three episodes in but it's fascinating and completely addictive!
If you go in with your eyes open knowing that you'll pay more for a Trophy, that the Sachs might need a refurb during your ownership irrespective of when they were done last, but that when you sell you'll be able to ask for more than a 182, then it makes for an interesting proposition.
From a...
The article says 'could' not 'will'. I hope no direct action is being taken as a result of this article. Those who enjoy driving will continue to do so, and those who choose to invest today for a future return will be happy with their choice.
I wonder if the FTSE will outperform Trophy...
From what I heard it was bought for a song a few years back, had a big service recently so is mechanically sound. The wheels are off for refurb and clearly it needs a significant clean or possibly some paint work but then it would be more than presentable.
£10k doesn't mean the owner wants to...
Also worth mentioning Dan & Russ are hoping to offer the original RS2 for sale soon - chances are they will be easier to contact than the person/people behind the recently revived RS2 website. More details to come in the coming fortnight once everything has been sorted behind the scenes.
The number isn't relevant, I think the OP has it right - being prepared.
I love the idea of a turbo conversion for my 182 but recently I've seen at least a few comments (not isolated to Clios) that people are being forced to sell or are unhappy with what they've ended up with because it keeps...
What are your expectations in terms of reliability and ongoing costs? How many miles will you cover and how handy are you if things to break?
Just wondering if you see this as a fit and forget upgrade, or are preparing for £1,000 a year costs to keep everything sweet.
Not at all mate, I've been following your thread with interest and love the direction you've taken yours - track Clios are everywhere but a track Trophy, now that's special! You'd have been more than welcome.
Thanks for the kind words.
The sub went in and it's made such a difference. I've had big boxed subs before and I knew this was never going to compete with those levels of bass, but I couldn't be happier with what it does deliver, it just rounds everything off so nicely. I knew I had to have one when you demo'd yours...

Some of you may know that I organised a trip to Wales a few weeks ago to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Clio Trophy. Unfortunately a few people who had planned to come couldn't make it, but there was a great turnout all the same.
We met in Llangollen on Saturday...
The interior is pretty clean - it's approaching 60k and the only thing that lets it down is the grubby seat belts, it's the mechanicals that are most important to me - I want to make sure everything is spot-on so I can enjoy another 4 years worry-free ownership.
Nope, you're doomed!
Probably best to give them a call directly, I'm sure you won't be the first, or the last. Phone calls are always best in this situation I find.
Exactly - where does it end?!
Yep, completely agree. I guess I just want to make sure that I cover everything that it makes sense to do in one hit, rather than regretting not doing it when it makes sense to.
I'm kind of ignoring the box at the moment, and while a diff is still a consideration...
Any excuse really! To be fair, Scott, the rear bearings are starting to whine, so that's a simple decision.
As for the fronts I've never been truly happy with the Brembo Max / DS2500s, and with my low mileage it could be another couple of years before they 'need' a change, so now feels like as...
It's coming up to 5 years since the Trophy last had its belts done so it'll be getting a full service in the not too distant future.
Apart from everything listed below, what else would you get done? (182 Trophy, 10 years old, 60k).
Cam & aux belts
Dephaser
Oil & filter change
Pollen filter...
I think the points Oggy were making was that the RS2 was comprehensively tried and tested within the UK on a number of cars before being offered on the market. It was a proven product.
While this may 'look' quality it's had zero exposure in the UK market so while you guys should be applauded...
