R-Tec said they have NEVER had to do it when lowering a car!! It is difficult to imagine that people dont get it done when it can have these effects
My Mechanic mate is going to adjust if for me tomz. I dont think the brakes are locking but certainly are gripping harder than they should. My...
Well suprise suprise Renault wont touch it!! They say they have no specifications to set the vehicle to because it has been modified - however they will show me where the adjustable valve is.
I spoke to R-Tec who said they wont touch it (Wouldnt trust extreme) and recommended Race/Track car...
I will speak to them this afternoon. If renault wont adjust it they can at least tell me which way to adjust it (maybe its clockwise or anti) then I( can get a mate to do it.
Apparently the rear brakes are only supposed to contribute 30% of the braking. Any more and it gets twitchy. I expect...
Hey guys,
I was coming back from Southend towards the M25 on the A127 and I was conscious all the way that there are speed cameras on this road. I stuck to all the speed limits and got past the 40mph bit - then opened up to 70 on the national speed limit dual carriage way.
There were no...
Hey guys,
I have had problems recently when braking at 60-70mph where the arse of my car starts weaving about and skipping on the road behind me. This doesnt happen on a dead straight but will do on the slightest turn.
I also noticed that my rear pads are nearly gone (which for 27K is a bit...
That might bhe an interesting thing to get looked at because when it went in for its service recently they said that the rear brakes were 50% worn and the front were 25% worn (which I though was wierd) - Will ask a mechanic mate about it. Where is the brake bias valve thingy?
Its only done 25K and the springs (-30mm) only went on about 1K ago so I am hoping its nothing to do with the shocks. I think it has always done it yeah.
Dear all,
I want something different for the ass of my clio but all that seem available are Lexus lights or Mk2 Phase II lights. I dont really want to butcher the back of my car but am just getting bored of seeing the same clear lights on cars at the mo. K-Tec do a slightly different style of...
I think I will because it feels dangerous. The arse seems top wobble about and you have to jockey the steering wheel a bit to gewt back in control. I dont think this is just a feature of the rear brakes because the whole car just feels that bit unstable. I try to use the gears to brake at high...
I am suprised that that they could keep up anywhere near a VTR. I had a 2001 model 1.2 16V and there is no way I could stay with my mates who had no modifications. He also had an extra person in the car.
VTRs are a good match for Mondeo ST24s in a race up to about 80mph - a 1.2 16V would...
I think (but am not sure!) that I have EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution thingy) on my Mk1 172. The problem I have noticed is that when braking hard(ish) at high speeds my car wobbles/weaves about slightly on the road which feels very hairy!!
Could this be the EBD thing? If so what the hell...
I had APEX springs on my 1.2 16V, I wasnt all that impressed with the handling but the ride was comfortable and it looked great. Mine bedded in after about 2 months which seemed a long time with average driving etc (definately sunk another 4-5mm tho)
Got H&R springs on my 172 now, well...
I willl be there both days but am driving my mates Mondeo there so wont be in my Clio. He is putting up his stall for http://www.LMCarAudio.co.ukwww.LMCarAudio.co.uk
Just a question really. Havent had mine RRd yet. Sometimes I have races that really suprise other cars (N/A GTO couldnt overtake me till we got to about 80-90), (Mk2 Golf GTI 16V that I kept leaving behind but the driver was mental and wouldnt give up!)
Then other days it doesnt seem as fast...
My car has recently started squealing constantly on an average drive. It has to be something to do with the brakes because as soon as you touch the brakes slightly the sound dissappears.
If you wobble the steering wheel a bit whilst driving the sound changes pitch etc too. This is well...
As Frosty said you will not be gaining any speed etc one the engine has gone past optimum pull anyway. The Rev limiter will come in shortly after but you are better off changing around 6500rpm or as soon as you hear the engine change pitch
Hopefully I raced the NA one then! With Regards to the speed cameras there was definately none in the strip we raced down but I thought they werent allowed to hide them behind signs etc anyway. I would be interested to know where the hidded one is as it can be reported uder some act and taken...
Hehe - Yeah its probable looking at the specs!! Oh well, it was a good, clean, fun bit of driving anyway . I like civil races!! Had a race with a 2.5 V6 vectra the other week and at the end he was flashing his lights and giving me thumbs up! I waved back to him and his bird and drove home...
I dont think all GTOs are Twin Turbos as there is a number of them in Autotrader that are 3.0 NAs. Maybe he was just playing with me? Seems strange that he would sit next to me for so long though without trying to overtake
It was quite a suprise!! We were tearing down a dual carriage way in Stevenage and because it was about 12:00 there was nobody on the roads.
I had already overtaken him so he lost his rag and pulled out to race me down to the next round about. When we came onto the round about we both had to...
Anyone got/driven one of these? Are they on par with a VTR/VTS/106 GTI?
Just interested really as you NEVER here of them (apart from some bloke in Max Power who was thinking of getting it supercharged.)
What are the 0-60s? Top Speed etc?
My local Renault reckons they sell more 172s than...
I hadnt seen many 172s about till I bought my mK1 172!! Now the Mk2 172s are everywhere. 1.2 16Vs are very much in abundance though. I had no end of problems selling my 01 1.2 16V becuase there are just too many of them on the road. Everyone buys them because of the free/low insurance which is...
So what damage can you do to a car having it run lean? I have the Ram Air Induction Kit housed in the original filter housing. Sounds great and there is some slight torque improvements. Cant see how such a small increase in air flow can cause any real/terminal problems?
I use Optimax when I can but there is only one shell garage near me so otherwise I use 97Ron Super unleaded from one place to another.
I dont notice any difference between really - I am sure its all in the mind too!! - Car manual recommends 98 Ron
