ive had the oil light come on a couple of times but when i check the oil level, its fine so just put it down to being parked ona slope.

went on to opie oils (where i got it all from) and that was one of the box oils they recommend for the 1*2 so just went with that. the 10w50 is the same stuff i put in before on freds recomendation so thought id stick with it.

on sat morning when i first got into the 172 to pop to the shops it was fine then about 10 mins of driving it started sounding like a scooby. when i went to drive off though, i had to give it a load of revs to get it going properly then was fine once driveing but would do it again when i slowed...

just orderd 5 ltrs of pro s, and a 1 ltr top up and 3 ltrs of castrol 75w80 manual box oil so at least ill have it all for when it needs doing.

what gear box oil would you recommend and how much of it would i need? plus is there any sort of seal that needs replacing when doing that like on the sump plug?

by sump seal do you mean the the gasket or the copper washer that goes round the sump plug?

check the seal around the boot floorand also your shocks are located in the hole correctly.
