I can't see if it has aircon or not (cup or non cup) - if it has aircon I'll suggest checking the lower idler pulley (small silver pulley at the very bottom of the aux belt routing.)
It will almost certainly be due to high demand flow rates through the engine due to the fact it is only present in the upper RPM, something small like a slightly off mounted throttle body or the likes. It's impossible to compare to a stock manifold as it does not herald the same type of airflow...

Tis' a good suggestion, however paul was using his fuel compliment of mapping gear, not just carrying out a power run, so any knock would have been visible.
