i'm the the process of spraying mine. i've got a phII 172 with standard alloys.
doing them gunmetal metalic grey.
will post pics tomorrow - if they're finished...
hi
when porting and polishing my inlet manifold i noticed that the cylinder head is grooved. will porting this make much of a difference or are the grooves there for a reason?
hi.
Just wanted to know if anyone has an ASHLEY exhaust fitted to a phII 172. My centre section is shot to bits - rattles at 4k, but i'm too tight to spend out big bucks on a new one. Have seen one on potn.com for 152.99 - what do you guys think....
Blue 172 CUP spotted in Winchester turning into the NHS building off Romsey Road. Looking good mate, very clean - you should spend more time getting itr dirrrty!!
bits done so far....
ported and polished inlet manifold
custom carbon fibre ik with silicone elbow and cold air feed
silvertechs front and rear
PI springs (25mm front, 15mm rear)
just need a full custom exhaust with decat followed by a remap and i'll be done,,
here are some just cleaned...
you need to wet the paint work - not the clay!! use the spray you got with the clay and the results will be awesome. if you haven't got any spray i think you can use diluted car wash stuff - but not as diluted as you would use when cleaning your car.
depends if you want a increase in power or just the induction sound.. to be fair you could get any IK and not really notice a difference in performance if that is your only mod. i has a pipercross on my 172, sounded awesome but i changed it for a cold air induction kit. a lot of people on here...
dude -
you will have to remove the inlet manifold!! the top of the inlet manifold is usually in keeping with the metal gasket and doesn't require that much work. the other end of the manifold will look totally different. each one of my holes needed enlarging by about 4-5mm to match the gasket...
mate,
i've just fitted PI 25mm front and 15mm rear springs to my '03 ff 172. lots of people on here **** them off for being cheap rubbish but i cant fault them. the car feels much tighter and there is no body roll. for the price i don't think you can go wrong. i cant comment on other more...
the diameter of the throttle thing in the side of the engine is 70mm - don't know for sure what the diameter of the viper is but would guess that its the same. the elbow is easy to cut but you'll need to get a couple of those twist up clamp things (sorry - mental block)!
Dude, got my 90' elbow from forge motorsport - was about 20 quid delivered (they have a web site). You'll need a 70mm internal diameter and you may need to cut it depending on what type of IK you're fitting.
Symo
Fellas the hardest part is getting the manifold off the engine!!
Removing the Inlet Manifold.
Step 1 - Disconect the battery. Take off air box / IK including, elbow and engine cover (4x black hex bolts).
Step 2 - Take off the thing on the top of the engine with the four fingers, think...
after a day in the workshop i've finally finished porting and polishing the inlet manifold to my 03 172.
re fitted it and taken it for a quick test drive.
its AWESOME!!!
and saved myself about 200 quid!!
who said it was the job of professionals......:rasp:
hi,
i've got some new springs to fit to my 03 172.
(front) - whats the best way of removing the top bolts - i see that people say that i should use an impact driver, but im too tight and would rather buy a spanner. would a 21mm swan neck and hex key work?
(rear) - is it necessary to remove...
