Also check the earth cable itself which runs from the rear cluster downwards, it attaches to the body work in the boot and you'll find sometimes its a little loose.

Whats the Clio? Seems so far on what you've said to be electrical. Sort out the earthing on your rear light and you might sort out your other problem.

Doubt it, there's a cabin sensor. You wouldn't have the inside of the car controlled by a sensor measuring the temp outside.

Might be a problem with the in car cabin temp sensor in in the unit where your interior light is. Thats the sensor which controls the CC, I'm guessing if its faultly then you'll end up with strange CC behaviour. Might be worth a check.
