Its all related to the perception and expectation which you have before and after the modifications. They probably do make a difference to the performance but its unlikely that you would ever really detect it in the real world, but because it sounds different, or feels different people think...

No real idea other than taking the dash off and having a look at the other side as they come off with that. Only about 12 screws. I'm sure someone will help before you have to go to that extreme though

Wouldn't bother with anything that didn't have 3G Edge = Max 473.6 kbit (ie 0.5 mbps) 3G = 3.2mbps or 7.2mbps depending on chipset
