cup+passenger= 172 so not much point really and u get cc, ABS, esp, etc,etc on the 172 so i would say 172 cos its a miles better car than a box with a 172 engine :p
i use it and i sware it gives me better fuel economy, recently drove down to my mates in torquay averaged about 42mpg, on the way back got 38mpg on tescos reg unleaded and if anything i was driving slower due to a weekends worth of beer!!!

Howdy i wasnt really going to mod my 172 bcos im trying to keep it a bit more civilised than my last car (205 rallye with a full through exh and carbs!!) but that extra bit of poke never goes amis, what would a decat and panel filter give and possibly a rechip/piggy back? or should i just wait...

I woundered about this, say if i run it on optimax and then switch to reg unleaded the ecu would then reduce the timing, but if i then switch back to optimax would it advance again it again?
Take it you are on about VVT, i read somewhere that it doesnt have any effect after around 1400rpm and that the kick at 4k is purely due to the cam duration/overlap not the VVT? Or is my knowledge of renaults crappy version of vtec all wrong?
Isnt that off cam tho? hence the need for vvt so renault could use mad cams to pass emmision laws? i thought that vvt was only in use upto 1400rpm to improve idleing + emmision not to 4k, when it comes on cam :).
There is such a thing as on cam as that is what happens at 4k... 1k nothing 2k....3k.....4k BAM, ON CAM, this is where the duration of the cams comes into play and the gas speed through the head is increased as the inlet and exhaust valves are just about open at the same time drawing more air...

right i have just found a four didgit number on a sticker inside my warrenty and service booklet, its on a sticker under the vin number is this the radio code?
Right this is really starting to annoy me now, my interior light stays on all the time and so does the door open light on the dash board, both switches seem to be working (tested by multimeter) and there is a charge in the wires connected to them of 0.59v, its an import and has a crappy alarm...
