172 cutting out when hitting potholes

Anyone? Went again on the way home under hardish acceleration, car jerked as if it was stalling but kept going. Engine management light came on for a second but nothing else.

172 cutting out when hitting potholes

Car has recently taken to cutting out if I hit a particularly nasty pot hole (but also occasionally just on hard acceleration). It never stops running though. Sometimes the radio cuts out a pile of lights appear on the dash as if I've just started the car but it doesn't actually stall to the...

Windscreen Washer Pump / Bottle with pictures to help!!

Thanks but how big is the bolt holding the washer bottle in. Mines missing and I'd like to buy a replacement before pulling everything out again. Seen from searches its a 10mm bolt but not clear if that 10mm long or 10mm wide? If it's 10mm long then what size bolt is it M6?

Windscreen Washer Pump / Bottle with pictures to help!!

Bit of a ressurection but am trying to do the same thing and on getting the scuttle panel off I discovered the intermittent rattling i've been getting on idle is the washer bottle cos the bolt in the 3rd picture isn't there. Obviously makes getting it out nice and easy but where can I source a...

Ast top mounts or pure motorsport mounts

Mines a daily driver and it's no more harsh a ride than it was. Don't know diddly about caster tho.

Ast top mounts or pure motorsport mounts

Fitted PMS solid top mounts and strut brace on Sunday bugger me its money well spent. I guess as above unless you want caster then PMS all the way and get the strut brace. Feels awesome.

Ph2 172 Replacing drivers side driveshaft

Changing this on the w/e. Just want to check as there's some varying answers in different threads - This is just pull out and shove the new one in right? No gearbox oil I know, but there's no clips or anything to worry about and its not a 'renault only' job is it?

    This needs replacing right?

How do you know when they do need chainging? Is there a test, doesn't look easy to check play in tbh

    This needs replacing right?

Trying to eliminate some steering vagueness and having read a few threads i believe the inner arb bushes can cause problems. looks pretty perished to me - worth changing and will i notice a difference? Also read the guide for changing the outers in the guide section as my o/s outer is a bit...

    possible cheaper inner track rod?

7701473656 is the part number Wests list on here for the inner tie/track rod for 172/182 cup and non cup. Perhaps the short versions that were being sold were due to a mix up with part numbers somewhere...

    Rattling noise on idle?

I remember when I took mine up to JMS and they pointed out the dephazer. When you rock back and forth past 2500 rpm with the car in neutral you could hear a kind of rattling noise and the car sounded like a tractor. Was ok when cold but once warmed up it sounded rough as. The lumpy idle is std...

    Cool thanks for the advice.

    These wishbones anygood?

Cheers Dan. Would I be better off just whipping off the existing wishbones and getting a new set of the powerflex wishbone bushes and some lemforder ball joints and stick with the existing wishbones? Car is knocking on 100k now but I guess the wishbones don't really wear out just the bushes?

    These wishbones anygood?

At 30 posted each they only workout £20 or so more than a pair of ball joints form ecp which is what I was after but for £20 seems like I mat as well go for new wishbones as well if these are ok. Anyone had any experience with them, bought some from this seller etc...

Trip computer display problems sensor problem???

Wouldn't worry about average speed as things like junctions and traffic lights mean its fairly meaningless. My speedo sensor was intermittent for a while and the effect of that was awful mpg as the car thinks your not moving but knows the engine is burning fuel. Also trip stopped registering...

    Speedo intermittent

Same thing here a while back. Got the sensor off eBay for about a tenner. Literally pull out and plug in the new one. If you have a search there is a pic on here somewhere of one as it's quite far back. Change by feel really as you can't see passed your /arm to what you're doing.

ABS light and Steering wheel judder (coupled with a loud droning noise)

Good luck with it! Don't suppose its bearings or CV .... I've had a really dry CV that squealed like a b**ch but wouldn't cause the judder through the wheel..

ABS light and Steering wheel judder (coupled with a loud droning noise)

Does sound like your discs from the description. If its the pads seizing on the disc then I'd say you need to take a look at the disc face to see what damage has been done. If it's a warped disc then obviously they'd need changing. It's not a difficult job to jack the car up a little and spin...

    Possible PAS pump issue

Hi Jonff - Got a squealy steering pump too when on full lock and also have the pure mototrsport aircon delete. So new PAS pump then? I take it thats a garage job then and not an easy DIY job given the tensioning has to be right on the pulley? Not been anywhere near this part of the car before so...

    Wandering steering

Mines been feeling like like it's being driven over ice almost recently. Put it down to pissing about doing handbrakes in an empty carpark as its been 'floaty' since then. No clue what the problem is but feels just like the OP says. No vibration at motorway speeds which i've had when...

Snappy is a miracle worker! Awesome steering wheel content.

Will chuck some fitted pics up tomorrow if I get it in the car. From memory Jesus had exactly the same and the leather was a close match for the airbag.

Snappy is a miracle worker! Awesome steering wheel content.

Just to add to all the other comments really. Had a borked wheel i bought off ebay sent straight to Andy/Snappy. He called me when it arrived to check it was the right one and that he had the colour scheme right. Some text messages with pics of the work in progress over the next few days and...

Flat Battery - could it cause airbag probs?

Cheers, had another poke around, wiggled the wires about and moved the passenger seat back and forth and it's gone.... Must be the Frenchness

Flat Battery - could it cause airbag probs?

Basically car has been off the road for a couple of months. Battery completely died so charged it up and now the airbig light and serv light come on, go off and back on again when turning the car on. Thought it might be the slipring/clock thing as the the wires came out on inspecting it, so...

    Rattle, well theres a surprise!

I had this, tie a mate onto an inspection trolley or skateboard and tie that to the underside of the car. Boot it down the road and they can pull themselves up the rope and have a listen under the car. Don't go over a speed bump.
