lol you make me laugh..
ive had my price reduced... because im getting 1/20th of the service i should be getting!
20mb broadband is £38
and for this they are delivering less than 1mb for half the day.
luckily all morning ive had around 4mb-8mb which has been the best day ive had since...
yeah but i definately wasnt under traffic shaping.. this was at 6 am..
and its still the same now
traffic shaping is only 4-midnight IF you go over 3 gig DL..
plus i can still download elsewhere at 1mb+ while the newsleacher is running at 450kb/s so its not maxing me out :(
right, back on newzbin
just set up newsleecher on other laptop, again directly to modem no router
and it did the same, connecting at 500kb/s
yet i can have a download through i.e from microsoft.com sat at 1.1mb/sec too so obv not maxing my account through newsleecher... is it because...
downloaded trial version of newsleecher, and paid for newshosting.com unlimited
connect up to download a file and getting 500KB/s instead of the 2000 i expected.. so thats 4mbit
done a speed test (only on speedtest.net so not very accurate) and its still showing 11mbps?
does that mean i...
''This generation really is leading the country down the sh1tter''
id say it was the use of useless call centres reading from a script in india personally.
plus the fact of so many shite companys with no customer service
couple with the immigration levels, and also youth.
newsgroup noob here, just signed up
455kb/s.. nice!
should be 2500 at 20mb!
any virgin techies in here?
Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 31
Downstream Frequency : 402750000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM256
Downstream Symbol Rate : 5360.537 Ksym/sec...
makes you laugh, they advertise that other providers through ADSL will quote you a speed you wont achieve
ok so they quote 24mb and you get 18 sometimes.
virgin media you pay for 20mb and get less than 1mb unless its from 1-6am where you will get 18..
engineer been today
i was at work
however he managed to get a 13mbit connection on a dodgy speed test site.. well done.
shame i got home to find my download speeds at 89kb/s!
rang up raging..
they ringing back within 24hrs
virgin media should die
ntl was fine for years...
sneeks, you on VM 20mb? and have you tried downloading from the microsoft.com server??

20megbit connection should be 2.5MB/s transfer..
day, mines been s**t ever since friday all the time. mines back down to 100KB/sec downloads..
ironic thing is, i was only getting 10/11mb on the surfboard modem so i asked for a new modem to be sent out.. now im lucky to get 2mb... argh
shindig, your prob on the same server as me i believe (nottingham) as im in grimsby.
adam, thanks for the test thats what i should be getting! grrr
how about if you download that media player 11 from microsoft.com server?
unfortunaately due to my area still being on a s**t copper core...
dan, click the microsoft.com link above for media player 11, save it to dekstop or somewhere you can easily find it to delete it from, and see what transfer rate you get :)
andy, like i said,... ''although there have been a few people posting saying they get the full 20meg all the time. so hopefully i'll soon be in that minority!''
today its been so slow and unreliable, however when they switched me to 20meg with the surfboard, i was getting a good 1500KBps...
dink, how long has the 20mb been up and running in your area?
what speeds do you get if you try download from microsoft.com
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/download/download.aspx
or some of the big files on here...
there has been reports of people that we're delighted with blueyonder and had no problems, but now the virgin media merge are very dissapointed in the service.
