So exactly how many members with SC'd / TC'd 1*2's do we have on here at the minute?
It'd be good to get a list together to potentially help organise a meet. ;)
I'd answer yes and no to that because it completely depends what you want out of the car.
The supercharger conversion is cheaper and I'd imagine the power is more usable since it's always there and the boost increases progressively with the revs.
However at the moment there's no supercharger...
I'd be very happy if my 172 weighed that. It's not a lot more than my old 106 GTi weighed when that was stripped out.
I soon put it all back in again though when I realised how gash it looked, and how cold it got in there.
I bet it's got something to do with competition.
They've probably been told by OFCOM to do it to give consumers the choice of whichever operator they use now that they haven't got the monopoly on the iPhones anymore.
EDIT: Or Apple told them, like Curley says.
If it was me I'd have supercharged a 106 GTi / Rallye instead, I've always preferred 106's even though they're essentially the same car.
I bet that was silly quick though. What power was it making?
I got taken for a spin in a turbo'd 106 GTi at one point and it was incredible how quick it was.
I'll no doubt zip through Heanor so I can top up with Tesco 99 before heading out into the sticks.
I would suggest an Alport Heights photoshoot, although those with stupidly low cars might struggle to get up there.
I'm from Sutton actually. I just have the misfortune to live in Ilson.
TBH if I was a proper Ilsonite I'd have nicked that pound and your phone long before now. In fact, you'd be rolling around on a cheap set of steelies or even TSW Venom's because I'd have had your wheels as well :rasp:
I might also convoy down with some of the local lot depending on which route people take?
I'll be coming down the A610 and crossing the A38 at Ripley / Ambergate so if anyone's going that way we can meet up to have an en-route blast ;)
So round about 0.5 bar then, same as (or similar to) the K-Tec LPT conversion
My HPT setup is only running circa 0.5 bar at the minute and made 215.7bhp so it'll be interesting to see how it compares.
My workmate has got an R5 GTT which has had a load of engine work done by BBPT that makes...
No. Never.
K-Tec website says it can make around 300bhp, though whether it does or not remains to be seen, since other forum members with the kit fitted are getting about 280ish.
At the moment it needs a better actuator to run more boost. I'll post a new RR graph when it's been fitted.
Either...
Right before anyone says anything I know this is the cack handed way of going about this, but since my scanner's broke I've had to take a picture of my RR printout with my iPhone instead.
Oh, and I mentioned in another thread / post that it's making 217bhp. It's not, it's making 215.7 so I've...
Re: Ben_stevo172 - Supercharged Monaco 172
Yep. It's actually already doing that at the moment. The RR graph shows it dropping off (although I can't remember at what RPM). It should drop off a bit higher up the rev range with more boost but it will still drop off nonetheless.
Do you know why...
Short answer. No.
I would imagine you'd need to get a gearbox specialist to sort it out (if it is that), or just buy another box.
You'd be best off getting somebody who knows more about this sort of thing to take a look at it first before shelling out for a new box or a rebuild though, since it...
Yeah. When I move the battery into the back I'm going to sit it lower down and possibly (depending on where it can fit) run a CAF to it.
I don't think it'll make a huge difference though. The intercooler is pretty large and the inlet temps were only 26 degrees when Andy mapped it the other week...
