The ONLY time I noticed it needed a torque pick up was overtaking lorries on single lanes abroad last year, that was it. Other than its performed superbly over the last year, as a car for me I simply cannot fault it in every department. I love the shape, what it offers for the money, the fuel...
I did think about it weeks after buying it, I think with the 90 it gives you another 20-30bhp. That's the only thing it lacks is more torque. To be honest I don't drive it that much, it gives me average 58mpg. If I want torque and fun I'll take the stripped out Megane 225 I also own for a blast
Agreed, the only 2 things that could do with improving in otherwise IMO a faultless and perfect car. I've owned my 14 plate dci 90 almost a year to the day and still love it, driving it, looking at it. A shame it didn't have the dci 130 that my 55 plate Megane dci has.
I'm with SKY insurance and have 3 cars insured with them. The 14 plate Clio is my main policy with all my no claims, my Megane 225 is mirrored off the Clio policy.
My 1.9DCi Megane is on a separate policy through SKY with 2 years no claims on that.
It was nice to see some varieties of makes and models. Like everything there's gonna be cars there not to everyone's taste, it made for a nice afternoon out and a good run out for the Megane.
Popped over to North Weald for the afternoon to have a mooch about and see the cars running the quarter mile. Quickest of the day was the Nismo plated NOS'd Skyline running mid 10s
A mate of mine mentioned this today and is going tomorrow for a mooch about. Was wondering if anyone from here is attending? I was thinking of taking the Megane out for a run.
I'm tempted to book in on Brands Hatch next Thursday for the evening session just to see how it goes. There's loads of stupid small jobs on the to do list that all add up, a little frustrating as I want them all done and like yesterday.
Ordered a set of these this morning from Renault Parts Direct, will fit these for when I take it out on track. A nice finishing touch for the Meg when out on track.
I couldn't imagine going back to standard wheels unless they're a second set with trackday tyres fitted.
Spent some of the weekend sorting out the interior plastics as they're scratched and dated.
I'm using DS1.11 pads up front on HC discs. Immense pads. OE pads, discs. I guess it also depends on driving style, and suspension geo..... I really, really want to get back to the Nurburgring, especially in the Meg.
Brakes all done.
Coilovers and geometry done.
Interior stripped to where I'm happy for it to be.
Sabelt seat and 4 point harness all in place.
I've ordered new swivel hub bearings, I've also bought all 3 exhaust mount brackets. Ordered a new OE drivers side upper engine mount. I still need to...
Thanks Joe, means a lot coming from a fellow Megane owner. So far, I had my first half decent spirited drive last night. I haven't played with number of clicks on the settings but how they are now it feels soft enough to ride out the roads, at speed it absorbs the bumps quite well. Not hard...
We've not discussed anything yet, the rear door cards are out, just a case of removing the fronts and swapping out. I'm not sure what's involved, being French it's probably not that straight forward.
Well I was toying with swapping it over with a cloth one. I've put the leather rear door cards in the shed and wouldn't mind swapping the front to pov spec items..... Or going carbon and making my own.
Almost! Needs new swivel bearings, all new exhaust mounts, ABS sensor sorting. There's other bits like fitting the R26R carbon spoiler when that arrives but that doesn't stop me from driving it.
I've only owned it about 2 months and most of that time has been doing the work to it. There's 3-4 mechanical jobs to do then it's ready for trackdays. I should be at Blyton in July but I'll book a trackday hopefully at Brands before that.
