yeh etching can be removed by scratch x, i got a good write up on how to remove it if you want it, i will sort it out later for you.
ps im selling some scratch x too
as above, most kits come with instructions, just make sure the car is washed before claying, dont use an aggresive clay as these can introduce fine scratches on the paint (although they can be removed by polishing), the megs kit is a good first choice, or the new sonus green clay
