    Welshname's Deep Black 197

Flol! Smoke bomb under the car was NOT cool when I had the engine running doing the airbags in CLiP and therefore the blowers on. Bunch of dicks.

I'm quite liking the standard wheels at the minute. And they are ridiculously wide when sat next to a 172. Makes the 172 look like a toy car

What have you done to your car today ???

So still feeling rough but decided to give fitting the steering wheel a go. Pretty simple job to be honest and it's made a huge difference to the inside of the car. Some pictures: Old Steering Wheel by Rhys Bartley, on Flickr Old Steering Wheel by Rhys Bartley, on Flickr As you can see...

Have you tried the connector under the passenger seat? Squeezing it back together and wiggling the wires usually does the trick

    Welshname's Deep Black 197

It's not even that bad. From picking it up and going to @TheEvilGiraffe it averaged 36.9mpg. Then with the cruise at 80 for the 4 hour drive home it did 30.1mpg Will see how this next full tank does me doing my regular driving, work and back etc Monaco used to get 25mpg average.

You have no idea how much time I spent looking at the advert before I got it. I was getting proper anxious as I rang him on the Monday and he had someone coming to view it that night. He messaged me the next day saying the guy coming to view's dad went into hospital so he's coming tonight...

I have always hated the spoiler. But in the flesh I think I might actually like it... Not 100% sold on it yet though.

Paintwork is good for the age. All original. You've got this expected stone chips on the front bumper, two small scuffs on either side of the rear bumper that I'm not convinced are through to primer and a tiny parking dent. It's a really good example barring that and the kerbed wheel. Would...

GT wasn't an option on the 197. Only on the 200s. As for the 'box he didn't mention it but at 70mph its at 3.5k. The earlier boxes (that this should have) should be 4k iirc. I'm going to do a proper look through the history tomorrow. And black on black...c'mon murdered out was so 90's.

So as some of you know I've been looking for a 197 for a while. As much as I loved the monaco the time had come where I had to draw the line with spending any more money on it. So...The replacement is a deep black 197. Spec: Xenons Cornering Lights Climate Control Cup Spoiler 19mm Spacers...

    Just bought a lovely 197......

I disagree. Drove back with the car with the standard seats and the lumbar support doesn't go low enough for me so my back was really sore. Drove all the way back north (4 hours) with 1 stop and my back was fine in the recaros.

    Ph1 gearknob ?

Yep from underneath too. Cat to centre section needs undoing, cat pulling down, heat shield removed, 4 bolts and 1 for the linkage. Sounds easy...its a c**t.

    Daniels Blue 182.

This is the point im making. Sure you can get the alignment close and itll feel kind of right, but using the standard laser bullshit at garages vs the hunter system using the same settings and the difference is night and day
  20. welshname

    Daniels Blue 182.

Go to a hunter alignment place. It's only front adjustable so itll be the base rate.

I luckily saw mine on eBay. Collection only down south. Luckily the car I want isn't far from there either

Is this garage having my pants down?

But the timing tool wouldn't fit if one was 180 out so he couldn't possibly have done that assuming he's using tools and not just tippex.
  23. welshname

Is this garage having my pants down?

Having both 180 out could be done, but the top bolt wouldn't go into the cam cover. Does sound like he's got the TDC pin in a balancing hole though. I assume he's clever enough to get the tools in but the balancing hole is far too easy to do

Is this garage having my pants down?

Timing tool wouldn't fit in at all then. You'd have to have them both 180 out to get it to fit as they'd never line up at any angle otherwise.

    Just bought a lovely 197......

As Daniel said, it's got the front aero splitter, cup spoiler and climate control. Anth wheels just means cup pack. Going to see one tomorrow with xenons, cornering lights, climate and cup spoiler. Then picking up some recaros the day after.

Is this garage having my pants down?

Nope, F4R is completely different to the standard cars.

Is this garage having my pants down?

If it's idling like crap then the timing is out. I'd suggest they haven't a clue what they are doing. If you can get them to send you a picture of the horse shoe shaped tool in the end of the cams. If you're timing is spot on you should be able to do this with it in place:

182 suddenly not starting (but starter turns for 2 seconds then cuts)

I've only ever got it to crank if I turn the key really quick rather than going to ignition first.
  29. welshname

182 suddenly not starting (but starter turns for 2 seconds then cuts)

I'd say it is tdc sensor. With immobiliser you just get a solid clunk from the starter and not a lot else. With tdc you get the engine turning over really quick
