to fit an oil pressure or temp gauge on a 172 you'll need to buy a sandwich plate to go between the block and filter or the way i have done it is by fitting a valver combined sender into where the oil level sender is on the 172

could be a few things but my money is on the ECU cage at the back of the engine- the metal cage that protects the ECU connector becomes loose and rubs on the wires going to the ECU casuing a short circuit.

check the adjustment of the selector rod if its out of adjustment then it could be causing it to force its way into third. are 1st and 5th ok ?

spray inside the ring and around the bearing give it time to penetrate. if that doesnt work you going to have to get some heat on it

instead of wacking it put your hands either side of it and try and ease it off after soaking it in wd40. ive never seem them stuck unless the carrier is bent. are both sides like this ?

Some phase 1's come with 3 fuel pipes one sender one breather via the charcoal canister and one return. If you have the 3 arrangement you'll need to change the lines and pump or block the return you have in at the moment. The pumps are all the same in the phase 2's im not sure about the phase...

have you filled it with 3.5 litres of oil?

If the red imobiliser light stays red once you have switched it on then there is a fault with it. It happened to mine and a recent conversion i helped do a new UCH was needed. If you know somone with a clip ask them to plug it in to try and re-sync the key

sounds like you need to re-enter your key. my tosh laptop gets like this i have to remove the prefered wireless network then find networks and the re-enter the wpa key
