Reluctant to add an induction kit unless it were to be a genuine improvement, rather add a better cold feed to the OEM box maybe?
I was tempted on some PMS topmounts but also reluctant to drill holes in the car
All good feedback,
So the inspiration to this thread is that I've recently bought back my old 182 that I owned from almost new (8k miles).
Keen to make the car as focused and enjoyable as possible without ruining it. Its my daily drive, and I do 50 miles a day in it across b roads and country...
Morning all,
So many threads on here about track cars and race style parts, because lets be honest. The Little 1*2s make for a superb track day machine in any spec.
Yet not all of us have our Clios as track cars.
With that in mind, what mods would you fit to your perfect road car?
Many of you...
I’ve just ordered a box of black 14mm head peel rivets for these. You ideally want to use Peel rivets as they’re designed for clamping softer materials such as plastic and wood.
I’ll be doing this job soon and spraying the sills with Bilt Hamber before refitting.
Yep, dead easy.
Pull the rear bench lower sections out.
17mm hex for the lower rear belt fixings.
TX40 for the lower front belt fixings.
Just give a gentle tug all the way around the rear doorcard and they pop right off.
Mindful to unplug the rear speakers before taking the doorcards fully...
Another job I’ve been meaning to do is get the rear panels off to check the state of the sills from inside.
Happy to report there is no corrosion in here at all. So just a quick hoover round, clear the drainage holes and a liberal coat of Waxoil.
I will however order some Bilt Hamber and revisit...
More parts arrived today in the shape of a new OEM Centre mount for the exhaust and managed to track down a pair of genuine Cup washer blanks.
These are notorious for breaking so I’ll fill the thread centres with resin and internally sleeve them.
Just need to decide if I paint these satin...
I used to think that about the 182 the first time around. I can honestly say I had as much fun in a near standard road car with 180hp as I did in a fully modified 580hp turbocharged rally refugee.
Cars are about driver feel and feedback. Yes the Subaru was brimming with both, but more power...
Not sure the Cayman is thread worthy as it’s already modified and I just drive it and enjoy it.
Maybe I’ll make a thread at some point about it.
Certainly I’ll try and keep the Clio thread updated as I’m doing my best to try and restore it to somewhere near its previous condition.
No worries. As you can imagine this car and it’s history has been documented on many forums for many years and some of the stories I’ve heard about what I’ve done with it are brilliant. The Scoobynet thread for example is over 140 pages and 630,000 views.
My most bizarre rumour I’ve heard yet...
Thanks chap,
I’ve made my peace with it and am getting on with life. Truth be told, I achieved all I really wanted to with it anyway.
Owned since I was 21 and built a supercar killer at home. It was featured in magazines and can honestly say I t never once let me down, so that was testament to...
Haha, I do love the Internet, I always fun to hear rumours.
The car hasn’t been sold for a GT4 at all, and my ambition did not outweigh anything either.
The person involved in the project over promised and under delivered, then lied about working on it and went awol. Without me wanting to go...
Just burned the last 2 nights at work reading this front to back.
Love the sheer amount of dedication and graft gone into this. Beautiful car and you've done a cracking job on it. The devil is in the detail of these things, and just love all the little details.
Ive just brought my old 182 back...
Nothing much, however I collected some small bits from the dealers in the way of some blanks for the bottom of the tailgate to finish the holes.
Also collected new rivets for the skirts as I want to have them off to clean/underseal and refit.
The OEM Black rivets are no longer available and...
Im not to sure what you found awkward, i stand them up and give them a liberal coat of Billbery and a jetwash every now and then. But my wheels never get that dirty that the brushes become clogged.
Only a small update on the 182, bit of poor show on my part really as I forgot to take any before pics. However I had all the little dings I found on it taken out today. 2 on the drivers door that were visable. One on the passenger door and 3 on the bonnet that were barely visable, but I’m...
Keen to give the old girl a freshen up, the first of more boxes of goodies arrived today.
I last freshened all the dampers and topmounts at 74k miles. She’s now on 112k so I figured I’d do the same again.
Pair front complete Cup lower arms
Pair front Cup dampers
Pair rear Cup dampers
Pair...
Bit more done on the 182 today.
Freshened up the arches with some new liners, cleaned out the sills and skirts.
Gave everything a liberal coating of Waxoil and added some Kaylan stone guards.
Used these on quite a few cars now and they offer discrete protection without having full sized flaps...
This mornings jobs were to try and eliminate the boot/parcel shelf rattle. (Of which so far so good)
The tailgate rubbers were shot, one was missing and the other was hard as nails. These are still available from Renault and at a cost of less than £5 for a pair, the new soft rubbers mean the...
All sorts of little odd jobs I’ve found but too much to list.
Tracked the exhaust rubber for the BTM system down to that for a Honda. So ordered one of those.
Silly things like removing the windscreen seals and cleaning behind them.
Soaking the seatbelts with APC and jetwashing them silver...
