Nope, Modern batteries contain calcium metal in the lead parts to decrease the tendency to produce hydrogen gas during charging by electrolysis of the water in the electrolyte solution. If enough calcium metal is present, the battery gassing is so well controlled that the cells can be "sealed"...

Mine does the same and Renault have quoted me £25 today to plug it into the diagnostic system for electronic failure before they even look at the switch. (out of warranty as it's a 02 plate) Even though I've told them EXACTLY whats wrong with it..

I have to depress the foot pedal at least half inch/possibly inch before the switch itself will activate the brake lamps, does anyone know how to adjust the brake switch itself to activate on touching the pedal as its an inconvenience braking at low speeds in...
