you could ask a local mot station just to do a brake test on the rollers to see if it shows any imbalance or low efficiency. its only a rough guide but it might show up something.
megane 2 brakes are extremley keen if your not used to them.

push the back box to the right. hook it over the axle, push it in and twist it as you bring it back to the straight position. they can be tricky if you never done one before.
cant think of a commen problem on the 172. the last i heard renault technical was looking in to the hesitation you get about 3000rpm when the engine is cold and new software was going to be issued. mine does the hesitation but only for the first few minutes after starting from quite cold. ill...
the electic pas on the clio is variable (gives you less assistance the faster you go). if you disable abs which supplies vehicle speed information then the pas computer doesnt know how fast the vehicle is going so it will go into a set defect mode.
the work involved would be a lot as well as the costs. as well as getting everything to fit you need all the wheel/suspension allignment to be correct otherwise it will drive/handle crap. this has been done in the past but it will cost you a fortune.
running problems on the 1.2 are normally software problems. have had the occasional throttle body and wiring problems before. tdc sensors are quite commen but you normally notice poor starting as well cutting out.
on a modern abs system brake distribution starts off at 50/50 front/rear. as you brake the abs adjusts the distribution automatically as it measures wheel speeds and prevents locking of the wheels. if the abs is disabled then the distribution will stay at 50/50 which could be dangerous in some...
dead easy, find a accident damaged etc rsi and just swap the engine etc over. like dean says though rsis are cheap enough to buy so make sure the conversion doesnt exceed the cost of just buying a rsi.
depends on engine/age. is your throttle the old cable set up or fly by wire? (electronic no cable). the fly by wire type injection doesnt have an idle valve as the motorised throttle body controls idle. on the normal cable set up the idle air control valve is on the left hand side of the inlet...
it will definatly upset the brake balance on modern abs systems. Also one day just before you slam into a car backend you might wish the abs was still there.
a 172 is CB1N. the fab number can me bypassed by entering a registration date. should be production date but you wont know that so just go by the number plate date. the special features code is always 5 on later vehicles. most other questions can be answered by just selecting options from the on...
