1.2 8v diet engine doesnt have an asbestos ring. its a flange type joint to the manifold with just a sheet metal sealing gasket. the cat on that engine has a flexi joint in a section of the pipe. maybe that has split and is blowing, that would be the weakest section of the cat that couldnt be...
maybe if you didnt have abs the wheels would have locked and you would have skidded into the roundabout at a lot greater speed then you did. very unusual fault if there is one so best to get it on a renault diagnostic machine to make sure all the wheels sensors are reading correctly etc.
you dont need renault for that as its not a proper service. ill get a price of some oil and a filter etc and let you know. be cheaper than renault as they will charge you about £80+ just for a oil change.
you have the springs in the middle of the clutch centre plate to make the take up of drive smoother. he had been that harsh with his changes that two of these springs had snapped. eventually one jumped out and jammed the clutch so you couldnt release it. thats when he had to bless my hand with...
it sounds like a selector has fell into gear maybe when you were fitting the box or whilst it was being transported. remove the metal gearbox end cover so you can see the selector shaft ends. post a pic of it so i can look at their position.
well never come across that yet even the new ones dont do it. might be something they used for hotter countries but ive never had that on any renault ive had at work. it is a good idea but never come across it. would save customers a lot of money if they did do that.
the mk1 1.2 is an energy engine which wont be anywhere near as economical as the modern engines. a service may help,eg-change all the filters and the spark plugs.
has it got a k/n or exhaust on it?
oh right i can remember mentioning that in another post now. didnt click at first as i forgot it was the wire for the speedo sensor. had a few of these at work a long time ago. ive had that problem as the wire runs behind the stereo area and people have fitted non gen stereos and tapped into...
ok then it might have just been certain ones that split for easy fitting. you can hook them in but because of the fatter pipe on the williams its a bit harder. it can be done though. ive had a few wrestling matches with these things myself in my time.
its not really red lining that wears them its when you take up drive or change gear. eg-holding on the biting point, slipping it when changing gear, hard gear changes etc. when you booting it then the clutch is engaged so even though it is under strain its locked so no slipping which produces...
is it a gen exhaust? some of the gen exhausts could be split so you didnt have to try and hook it around the axle. you just split it,fitted it and joined it back togethor.
been a long time since i fitted a valver speedo cable but not sure what you mean about this earth. i thought they just had the speed sensor connector just behind the instrument panel.
